Candy Bars
Goal: To create a spreadsheet and a graph and to analyze the information.
1. Open the Microsoft Excel program (X)
2. Highlight and merge 10 cells in the first row.
3. Write your name.
4. Highlight and merge cells in the 2nd row and write the date.
5. Highlight and merge cells in the 3rd row and write the title of the paper in a bigger
font: Candy Bars.
6. Write the titles of 3 columns in a bigger font and enlarge the cells to fit in all the
words: Color; Number in Figures; Number in Words.
7. Count the candies in your bag, each color separately and fill the spreadsheet with
the data.
8. Use the E sign on the toolbar to count the total sum.
9. Highlight the spreadsheet and click on the chart wizard on the toolbar. Choose a
graph that demonstrates your data best.
10. Follow the instructions and create the graph.
11. For extra credit, create another spreadsheet for shapes of candies.
12. Merge 5 rows of cells under the graph and make a conclusion. What information
can you get from this graph? Compare the data. What did you learn from this
assignment?
