Separation
The Wheat and the Tares
The Dragnet
The Wedding Feast
“But Now I Go Away”
John 16:5-7
Itwas necessary for Jesus to go away for
a time.
He wants us to understand some of the
things that will happen while He is gone.
He has taught us to be ready for when He
returns (being prepared).
He also wants us to understand what will
happen when He returns.
The Tares
Matthew 13:24-30
Originally, only good was planted.
The bad was planted by the enemy.
The good and the bad were not separated
immediately, “lest you uproot the wheat
with them.”
They were allowed to dwell together until
the harvest.
Then the separation of the good and the
bad will take place.
Lessons to be Learned
God planted good seed in the world, but in that
place, bad seed was planted as well.
“Why does God allow so much evil?”
Vs. 27-28: “An enemy has done this.”
“Why doesn’t God do something about it?”
Vs. 28-29: “Lest, while you gather up the tares you
also uproot the wheat with them.”
2 Pet. 3:9: God does not want any to perish.
Vs. 30: At the harvest the tares and the wheat
will be gathered up and separated.
Lessons to be Learned
Who are the wheat?
The wheat are the good.
They do the will of the Father in this life.
They bear fruit for the land owner.
Who are the tares?
They are the bad.
They refuse to do the will of the Father, just as
the one who planted them.
They do not bear fruit, but fight against the
land owner.
The Dragnet
Matthew 13:47-50
Fishermen look for good fish to help them
make a prophet.
In their searching, they bring up bad fish
as well.
Rather than throw the whole lot back into
the sea, they bring them all to shore and
then separate the good from the bad.
The bad are thrown away, but the good
are kept and bear fruit for the fishermen.
Lessons to Learn
The world consists of both the just and the
unjust.
When Christ comes, all sorts of people will
be gathered up: John 5:28-29.
Though the good and the bad dwell in the
sea together, eventually they will be
separated.
In the separation, those who do evil in this
life will be thrown away, while those who
have done good will be kept.
The Wedding Feast
Matthew 22:1-14
Originally a certain group of people was
invited.
They rejected their invitation and
persecuted those who were sent to call
them to the wedding feast.
The first group was destroyed and
everyone else who would hear was called
into the wedding feast.
Though all were called, those who were
not appropriately attired were cast out.
Lessons to Learn
Originally,God called the Jews into the
kingdom, but many rejected Christ and His
messengers, even killed them: Vs. 1-6;
Acts 13:46
Having destroyed the physical nation of
the Jews, God now calls all men into the
kingdom: Vs. 8-10; Acts 13:46-47.
Though all are called and many respond,
only those who are properly attired will be
chosen: Vs. 11-14
Prepared for the Separation
When the division takes place, there will
already be a distinction between the just
and the unjust.
The distinction between wheat and tares was
determined before the harvest.
The distinction between good and bad fish
was determined before the net was brought
up.
The man who was thrown out prepared
himself before the wedding feast began.
Prepared for the Separation
Rom. 2:5-8; “Render to each one according to
his deeds.”
Gal. 6:7: What we sow on earth, we will reap in
the separation.
2 Cor 5:10: “For we must all appear before the
judgment seat of Christ, that each one may
receive the things done in the body, according to
what he has done, whether good or bad.”
Have you decided on which side of the
separation you are going to be?
