FEDERAL GRAND JURY RETURNS INDICTMENTS
Madison, Wisconsin -- A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin,
sitting in Madison, returned the following indictments today. You are advised that a
charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless
proven guilty.
PORTAGE MAN CHARGED WITH ILLEGALLY
POSSESSING AMMUNITION
Peter Flickner, 49, of Portage, Wisconsin, is charged with being a felon in possession
of ammunition. The indictment alleges that on May 3, 2007, he possessed 20 gauge shotgun
shells, 12 gauge shotgun shells, 30-30 caliber ammunition, 30-06 caliber ammunition, and
.22 caliber ammunition.
If convicted, Flickner faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. The
charge against him is the result of an investigation conducted by the Portage Police
Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The
prosecution of this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel J. Graber.
MAN CHARGED WITH RE-ENTRY AFTER DEPORTATION
Juan Alvarez-Velazquez, 38, a citizen of Mexico who was found living in Janesville,
Wisconsin, is charged with intentionally entering the United States after previously being
deported. The indictment alleges that he was found in the United States on June 28, 2007.
If convicted, Alvarez-Velazquez faces a maximum penalty of two years in federal
prison. The charge against him is the result of an investigation by U.S. Immigration and
Customs Enforcement and the Rock County Sheriff’s Department. The prosecution of this
case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel J. Graber.
