FEDERAL GRAND JURY RETURNS INDICTMENTS
Madison, Wisconsin -- A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin,
sitting in Madison, returned the following indictments today. You are advised that a
charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless
proven guilty.
MADISON MEN CHARGED WITH ROBBERIES
Curtis J. Langlois, 27, and Scott M. Andruss, 18, of Madison, Wis., are charged in a
two-count indictment with attempting to rob the Red Roof Inn on Hayes Road in Madison
on May 8, 2008, and with robbing the PDQ on Milwaukee Street in Madison on May 9,
2008. These men face federal charges because the businesses involved are engaged in
interstate commerce.
The indictment alleges that during the attempted robbery on May 8 and the robbery
on May 9, Andruss pointed a knife at an employee of each business. Langlois and Andruss
were arrested by officers of the Madison Police Department on May 9, 2008.
Langlois and Andruss were charged earlier by a complaint filed in U.S. District
Court on May 9. They appeared in federal court that day and were detained. A detention
hearing is scheduled for Friday, May 16, at 9:00 a.m.
If convicted, Langlois and Andruss face a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal
prison on each count. The charges against them are the result of an investigation by the
Madison Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of
this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel J. Graber.
MAN CHARGED WITH RE-ENTRY INTO THE UNITED STATES
Jamie Arnoldo Cruz-Cruz, 31, a citizen of Mexico, who was found living in Wausau,
Wis., is charged with intentionally re-entering the United States after previously being
removed. The indictment alleges that he was found in the United States on May 1, 2008.
If convicted, Cruz-Cruz faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. The
charge against him is the result of an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs
Enforcement. The prosecution of this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney
