					List of ECHI operational indicators
This Excel file contains the operational indicators for the ECHI shortlist indicators. Operational indicators = precise definitions
of the required breakdowns according to sex, age, SES, and possibly other dimensions. The operational indicators are in line
with the information provided in the indicators' documentation sheets, and provide a quick summary per indicator of
definitions/breakdowns to be used for ECHI indicator data presentations.
This is version 2 (September 24th, 2010) of the list of ECHI operational indicators

Structure Excel file:
This worksheet contains some general remarks on the content and the structure of this Excel file and on the relevant dimensions for the EC

The next worksheet provides an overview of the full shortlist, indicating which of the following 3 status descriptions is applicable to the short
1) Implementation section, indicator from international database
2) Implementation section, indicator in ECHIM data collection pilot (= indicator not (yet) available in international databases)
3) Development section

In work sheet 1 the operationalizations for the indicators in the implementation section, for which data are available in
international sources, are listed.
In worksheet 2 the operationalizations for the indicators in the implementation section, for which currently no data are readily
available, are listed. These indicators will be included in the ECHIM data collection pilot which will be carried out in 2010.

In worksheet 3 the indicators in the development section are listed (only indicators, no operationalizations, as it is not yet
possible to define these).
There are some pending issues (definitions, preferred source); these are marked yellow.

Remarks on dimensions (region, SES):
For many indicators in the ECHI shortlist region is a relevant dimension. For the collection of regional data, ECHI follows the
recommendations of the ISARE project. Therefore no separate operational indicators for regions are added to this list; for the
indicators for which this is relevant, in the indicator's documentation sheet we refer to the ISARE project (www.isare.org).
ISARE has collected regional data for a subset of ECHI shortlist indicators.
For many indicators in the ECHI shortlist Socio-Economic Status (SES) is a relevant dimension. However, many indicators
currently are not available by SES groups. Therefore in this list we have only added SES groups as operationalizations for
those indicators for which availability by SES groups is reasonable/good. For the most part these are the (E)HIS based
indicators which are part of the ECHIM data collection pilot (see work sheet 2). Occasionally existing indicators from
international databases (work sheet 1) are available by SES, e.g. indicators derived from the EU-SILC.
