• People with a broad business background and can apply
technical knowledge and skills to complex information
management problems are always the most desirable and
in short supply
• Two thrusts
– Management of technology
– Managing organizations using technology
• Many jobs are can be outsourced. MIS jobs are
“intimate” to the business and are difficult to outsource
• MIS offers the most flexibility and employment options
– Many different areas, rapid advancement potential
– Big $$$’s (e.g. 3yr DBA 6 figures in Hawaii)
