The Academic Route – By achieving Intermediate GNVQ’s; Vocational A-levels or A-levels, you could attend University to study on an Accredited Degree Course, which could be accredited for CEng or IEng. Gap Year and Sandwich Courses – An explanation of what these are and how they can fit into your career plans. Unusual Engineers – Case studies of engineers and where they are now. Real examples of different routes within the different fields of engineering which have led to young people having rewarding and successful careers in a challenging sector of industry. .
The team at CEME can offer support and access to resources in engineering careers for local schools. For year 9 or year 11 options events we offer an “Engineering Stand,” where we actively promote subjects in Science, Engineering and Technology. We can also highlight pathways into engineering that may not have been considered previously, so students with an interest can make informed decisions. We have information that is useful to parents of young people considering a career within this exciting sector which includes information on educational opportunities at Universities, Graduate Schemes and placement opportunities. Following on from that we can, at the schools invitation, come into your school and deliver a presentation on the career routes into engineering. This 50 minute PowerPoint presentation will cover:The Apprenticeship Route – will talk about the main apprenticeship routes open to school leavers. The entry level requirements, how the apprenticeships are run and what qualifications you can obtain. Most importantly, we will demonstrate the options available to you when you have completed your apprenticeship. The different areas that young people can expect to work within and
