Dear Club President,
We don’t need to tell you that for many Australians restoring classic cars is more than a hobby – it’s
a way of life.
The team at Australian Classic Car magazine thinks it’s time to recognise those who have tirelessly
and immaculately restored their piece of history.
We’re calling on the car clubs of Australia to help us narrow down the best classic cars that Australia
has to offer in this inaugural Australian Classic Car Awards. We are looking for perfect specimens
from a bygone era when vehicle craftsmanship was an art, and cars were built to last.
Motoring club Presidents are invited to nominate up to two (2) cars from their club to be contenders
in the 2010 Australian Classic Car Awards. An official nomination form is enclosed with this letter.
When choosing a car to nominate, please consider our criteria.
• The nominated vehicle should remain faithful to its original and former glory
• The owner should have diligently recorded the whole restoration process, from start to
finish, with supporting photographs and documents
• The car should be pre-1979
Nominees must be members of an Australian classic car club, and only their club president has the
authority to nominate their vehicle. It is the responsibility of the nominator to advise their nominees
that they have been put forward for the 2010 Australian Classic Car Awards. We encourage club
presidents to engage their nominees so the nomination form can be filled out completely and
correctly.
11 finalists will be chosen, and Australian Classic Car magazine will send experienced journalists to
interview the owners of these cars and professional photographers will be dispatched to shoot the
cars. Finalists will be contacted on 26 October 2009 and all finalists must be available for their
interview and vehicle photoshoot between 26 October 2009 and 13 November 2009. Please be
aware that we will not contact unsuccessful contenders.
Once the interviews and photoshoots have been conducted a winner will be chosen. The lucky
winner will take home a major prize pack valued at several thousand dollars and we will contact the
winner no later than 18 November 2009.
