Hardship Letter Guide
There is often a lot of different advice when it comes to writing a Hardship Letter. The
truth is that every lender is different on their policies regarding a Hardship Letter, some
may just effectively consider this a checklist item, while others will scrutinize your
Hardship Letter to ensure that they are only giving you the help that you really need.
Regardless of whether your lender will ultimately review the letter or not it is important
that you treat it as if they will.
For Lenders that are reviewing this letter there are some basics that they will be looking
for.
1) The Names of each of the Borrowers
2) The Property Address and your Mailing Address (if different)
3) The Loan Number
4) Specifically what Occurred to make you become delinquent or that will make you
become delinquent if you do not receive help (include specific dates if possible)
5) Any specific steps that you are taking or have taken
6) What is it that you need? (payment changed, delinquency modified, etc)
If you are still uncertain how to begin there is a sample Hardship Letter available for
