Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a great Scouting year!

I can truly say that we have had an amazing year, our group has never been

healthier, stronger and, well... Busier.

We outstandingly, beaten many of our records, being now 70 members strong, add in with that

another 20 dedicated volunteer leaders, makes us quite the envy of the area. Our popcorn

fundraiser helped many of our sections achieve some phenomenal programming. One activity

that comes to mind is the Ottawa road trip in January! More than half of our group ventured to

capital by bus and visited a total of 4 museums, Parliament hill and skated at the Governor

Generals home at the Rideau Hall rink.

Beavers explored the world of transportation this year, their trip to STM Garage was a well

remembered highlight.

Cubs, survived swarms of bugs at spring camp, set record breaking speed limits in

Tobogganing at winter camp and proudly represented our group in the St-Patty’s day parade!

Our Scouts, have never embarked on a bigger trip, a 2 week adventure in Cape Breton.

Two fun weeks filled with sea Kayaking, whale watching, Lobster boils, a Jamboree with over

a thousand participants and memories that will last them a lifetime! You can follow their

adventures on the following blog site: http://knwatsj.blogspot.com/

Our Venturers, participated in the “Go Challenge” race last fall , the run took them all over

Tamaracouta and Kanawana! They have also gone beyond the call of service, in helping out

our council camps and dedicating some time community projects for the city.

The Rovers have come to help out our younger sections many times this year! Our leaders

are very thankful to have had their help. They also braved the rapids in the riviere du Diable on

a raft! Sweet ride man!

Our group has also this year redesigned our group crest, one that represents all the sections

great passion for exploration and the outdoors (Logo on the top right of this page).

We could not be prouder of these accomplishments, and I hope that your child / youth has

come out of this year, with some fun tales of friendship, learned some great values, felt truly

engaged, and , of course, enjoyed themselves!

I, once again must thank our volunteers for giving their time and energy to the program,

without their implication, we would simply be a babysitting program, their hard work is well

appreciated.

but also dream; not only plan, but also believe”

Looking into 2009 & 2010.

Our group has already set up many of our common activities, and the sections will be soon

enough gathering once more to create a program calendar for next year.

Our group registration night will be held on September 3rd, from 6:00pm till 8:00pm, at

Holleuffer chalet. Our fee’s for next year now stands at $190. 42% of the fee’s go to National

Office, 34% goes to the quebec council, and the balance of 24% goes to our group. Most of

the money for fees go to help support programming, camps operation, program insurance,

leaders training, manuals, help pay leaders fee’s and other resources that help us

accomplish the quality activities that we offer.

Yes, we hope that we do offer quality programming, but we could be blinded sometimes.. If

you have any feedback to relay to our group, about any of the programming this year or

suggestions that you may want to bring to us for next year, or just want to send a some

“Kudo’s” our way. Feel free to contact your section leader. And if you are not comfortable to

do so, you can also contact our group registrar, Marc Martel, marc.martel@mckesson.ca or

by phone (514) 758-8827. Our group is strong today from the feedback we get from the

youth and you, the parents.

Spread the word, if you know any of your child's friends that may want to join, let them know

about our registration night. Or send them to our group website: www.knwscouting.com .

And.. well if you thinks your kids are having all the fun and you wish to join in, feel free to do

so. There are many volunteer opportunities in the scouting movement!

Hope you all have a wonderful summer, and to the many, going to summer camp,

“May the wind be at your back,

and the sun, shine on your face “

(old canoeist well-wishes)

Yours in Scouting,
