Dear friends in Christ,

It brings me great joy to be able to share with you that The Rev. Shelly L. Fayette has accepted a call to become
Good Shepherd’s next Associate Priest.

Shelly, born and raised in Yakima, Washington, comes to us via life experiences in Los Angeles, California; Sitka,
Alaska; Seattle, Washington, New York City; and just recently, the Diocese of Eastern Oregon.

Shelly has a B.A. (summa cum laude) in Theology and Religious Studies from Seattle University and graduated with
honors from Union Theological Seminary in NYC on May 22. On April 17, she was ordained to the Transitional
Diaconate at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle. Shelly’s partner, Aaron, the daughter of a United Methodist minister,
holds an M.A. (also from Union) in New Testament Studies.

Bringing a keen mind to ministry and a huge heart for Jesus and Jesus' people, Shelly is described as having an
"enormous relational capacity," as she relates to and ministers with people across the whole spectrum of humanity
and the world in which we live. I have even heard that her yoga class with the good people of Pendleton, Oregon is
a huge hit.

Shelly is one who will challenge us to live into God's Mission for Good Shepherd within a realistic and tangible way
to continue to be people of God, committed to acting in love and seeking and serving Christ in the world, one
another and ourselves, to live into a world transformed by the love of Jesus Christ.

As you prayed without ceasing for God to send me here, I believe that we have prayed Shelly here to minister with us
and through us to discern God's will for Church of the Good Shepherd. Sometime in early September, Shelly and
Aaron will be joining our church family. I shall keep you abreast in upcoming editions of The Good News and on
our parish’s webpage.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work
within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
(Ephesians 3: 20-21, NIV).
