Central material drying and conveying systems

with user administration

New at FAKUMA 2011: WITTMANN M7.2 network control with user administration.

Even though a central material drying and conveying system is not directly involved in

molding, it plays a fundamental role in the injection molding process because of its

contribution to trouble-free operations. When the decision for a central system has been made,

plastics processors have to find their answers to the questions of servicing and the

organizational means that have to be applied to ensure the most efficient production. The

central system has to be perfectly adjusted to the respective process. And it has to provide a

simple and comprehensive access to all its functions. During the different phases of material

preparation, every action has to be fully monitored – at any time.

High-complexity systems that include material dryers and coded coupling stations can be

controlled very effectively using a centralized network control like the WITTMANN M7.2

control. The M7.2 control displays the material flow, the vacuum connection, and all the CAN

and electric connections. Furthermore, it now provides a sophisticated user administration

which is included in delivery as a standard without extra charge. Using the IPC version of the

M7.2 network control, the system administrator can create and fully administrate up to 64

different users. Any access rights can be exactly defined, for instance the manipulation of up

to 250 sets of machinery that also can be pre-defined. This could mean in practice that only a

shift supervisor would be able to change the drying temperature adjustments or to input new

material data. Another example would be the machine operator exclusively being able to

pause conveying units when changing the mold. Certainly, every user of the system can be

provided with their own password.

Two alternatives of logging in:

password input or usage of RFID registration chips.

In order to further simplify the registration procedure and the entire administration, as an

option it is possible to log-in by applying RFID registration chips – as used with time

recording systems. The M7.2 control is unlocking the adaptability of functions as defined for

the respective operator. Log-in and log-out, the changes that have been made, and the time

specifications are recorded.

The user administration function of the M7.2 control thus is assuring a high degree of safety

when adjusting the system parameters. Beyond that any problem occurring in regard to the

equipment or the processed material is optimally reproducible.

WITTMANN worldwide is one of the leading manufacturers of robots and peripheral

equipment for the plastics industry. The WITTMANN group with Headquarters in

Vienna/Austria is a worldwide operating company with 7 production facilities and 20 branch

offices in all major plastics markets in the world. WITTMANN’s product range includes

robots and automation systems, automatic material handling with dryers and plastic recycling,

temperature controllers and chillers for machine tools and volumetric and gravimetric

blenders.

With this comprehensive range of peripheral equipment, WITTMANN can provide

processors of plastics with total solutions which cover all their requirements, ranging from

autonomous work cells with single zone temperature controllers, screenless granulators, sprue

pickers, integrated vacuum loading systems and integrated cross-linked control systems with

integrated material loading and dryers to automated robotic systems for flexible finishing of

semi-finished injection molded parts.

On April 1, 2008 WITTMANN has taken over the BATTENFELD Kunststoffmaschinen

GmbH at Kottingbrunn (Lower Austria). The market for auxiliary equipment on one hand and

for injection molding machines by BATTENFELD on the other will continue to grow

independently. However, the syndication will of course lead to the completion of both product

lines, providing the advantage plastics processors have been looking for in terms of a

seamless combination of processing machines, automation and auxiliary equipment – all

occurring at a progressive rate.
