MOTOR MECHANICS
C.T.A. – COMMON TASK FOR ASSESSMENT
GRADE 10 REPLACING DISC PADS
OUTCOMES :
To give the learners the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge into
practice.
To familiarize the pupil with the operation and assembly of the disc brakes.
The learner must be able to check the disc brake pads for wear and replace it
where necessary.
Answer the following questions:
1. Mention the tools that are required to replace the disc pads. (9)
2. Mention all the specifications that are required to replace the disc
pads. (7)
3. Mention six things to do in preparation to do the job. (6)
4. Mention four factors that would be visually inspected before
replacing the disc pads. (4)
5. Explain step by step how to remove the old disc pads. (3)
6. Explain how to check the disc run-out (4)
7. Explain step by step how to replace the new disc pads. (5)
8. Mention seven important steps to be done after replacing
the disc pads. (7)
