The Challenge Provide Carrier grade quality VoIP service over customer networks that they have little to no control over or visibility into. The Packet Island Solution C3IP installed a Packet Island Micro-appliance into their customers’ networks to gain visibility into network traffic, jitter, latency, packet loss, and router performance. Results Provides C3IP with an in depth view of the customers network. IT staff can work remotely to troubleshoot problems, and identify necessary fixes.
This focused differentiation did not stop at product features. C3IP Communications sought to provide carrier grade reliability with their VoIP service. To do this, however, they needed a solution that was flexible enough to work with the different types of networks they encounter, but also powerful enough to provide accurate detailed information that would help them troubleshoot and quickly diagnose network issues. “Our challenge is providing Carrier grade service over customer’s legacy networks where we have limited visibility.”, says Rob Larsen, Director of Engineering at C3IP. “The support staff needs visibility into the customer’s network to pinpoint problems quickly and recommend the necessary fixes to improve service. Using Packet Island’s VoipPro service, Packet Island’s VoIP assessment and troubleshooting solution, C3IP was able to provide detailed information on a customers network as to whether or not it would support an IP phone system, and if so to what degree. It also keeps a 30 day record of everything that happens on that network to allow you to look back in time and see what caused poor call quality, after the fact. All this information is accessed through a web based GUI, and provides the ability to view hundreds to thousands of customer sites from a single interface. As the interaction between Packet Island and C3IP continued the partnership grew. C3IP now includes Packet Island’s VoipCare service as part of their offering to every customer who has 10 or more lines. “We’re excited about this partnership.
