LOUISIANA SCHOLARS' COLLEGE
PROMOTION WORKSHEET
(Effective 11/10/06)
Faculty member: _________________________ Evaluator: _______________________
Promotion to (circle one): Associate Professor, Professor
Instructions: The candidate should briefly itemize the information contained in the Application for Promotion in
the appropriate categories. Committee members are free to exclude items from consideration (with reason) or to
move items from one category to another. Each committee member should complete their assessment of the
application materials prior to the committee deliberations. This worksheet is designed to guide the discussion of
applications and indicates only necessary requirements for promotion according to the College's policy.
Additional information (with documentation) may be included in the evaluation. The worksheets and a
consensus summary should be provided to the Director along with the committee recommendation.
Recognizing that different faculty members may have strengths in different areas, this system was developed to
allow strong performance in one or more areas (Teaching and Academic Advising, Professional Activities,
Service) to compensate for an area where the candidate is less strong. Thus each major category has a specified
number of points that must be accumulated for a balanced application, but also a threshold that is considered an
absolute minimum requirement. When points in one area meet only the threshold requirement, exceptional
performance in one or more other areas may compensate for the relative weakness in the low area. However,
also recognizing the central role of teaching in the College, the category Teaching and Academic Advising has a
higher threshold than Professional Activities and Service.
