Prayer Bracelet
A prayer bracelet is an ancient prayer tool used by Orthodox Christians for over 2000 years! Prayer
bracelets come in many different sizes and colors. We have given you enough beads to make a traditional
33 bead prayer bracelet. 33 beads because Jesus lived for 33 years. Prayer bracelets are worn all over the
world and used every day by millions of Orthodox Christians. Prayer bracelets help us to remember God
and to pray to Him throughout the day.
How to make and use a prayer bracelet:
1. String 33 beads onto the stretchy string provided.
2. Tie the string into a circle.
3. Place your prayer bracelet in your prayer corner or wear it around your wrist.
4. Whenever you have time, take your prayer bracelet into your hand and as you count a bead say the
following prayer, 1 prayer for each bead:
a. “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy on me a sinner.”
The Gospel story by colors:
Black: Stands for our sins, Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.”
Red: Stand for the blood of Christ, John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten
son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
White: We are now clean and forgiven through Jesus Christ. Psalm 51:7, “. . .wash me, and I shall be
whiter than snow.”
Blue: Stands for baptism, Mark 16:16, “He that believes and is baptized shall be saved.”
Green: Is for growing in the Lord and the Holy Spirit, 2 Peter 3:18, “But grow in grace, and in the
knowledge of our Lord.”
Yellow: Stands for the promise of eternal life, John 14:2, “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it
were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you.”
