Zombies
Try this simple Halloween game. Fun and simple party or class game!
One person is 'IT', the others must sit or lay as motionless and expressionless zombies. The person who is 'IT' must do whatever they can to make
the zombies smile, giggle, or wiggle in any way without touching them! When 'IT' gets a zombie to wiggle, giggle, or smile, that zombie then joins
'IT' in trying to get others to smile, giggle, or wiggle. The last zombie wins!
Fear Factor Feeling Box
Try this simple Halloween feel box game. This is a fun, easy, and sometimes gross Halloween party or classroom game!
Using cardboard (can be from empty cereal boxes and such), divide the inside of a large box into 4 pieces (or however many desired). Cut holes in
the sides of the box - these should be big enough for a hand but not big enough to see inside. Put something (ideas below) into each section of the
box and have the children put their hands in the holes and try to guess what is in it just by feeling it. ideas for items to place inside box:
Damp, Course Sponge - Brains
Twisted Chenille Stems - Spider

For an especially scary box - leave the box empty but make a hole in the back. When they put their hand in to feel for the scary surprise. Reach
in and grab their hand.

Old Costume Relay Race
Try this simple Halloween game. Fun and simple party or class game!
Divide players into two equal teams. For each team have a suitcase or box containing a complete costume, each costume should have the same
number of pieces (4 or 5 is fun - Shirt , trousers, shoes, wig or mask, ect). . In turn each player must put on the costume and run to a certain point
where they take the costumes off and put them back in the box, then run back to start where the next player repeats the proce ss until one team
finishes and wins.
Wiggle Worm race
Try this simple Halloween game. Fun and simple party or class game!
Divide the group into teams with the same amount of people in each team. Everyone in each team lines up and forms a 'worm' by putting their left
hand between their legs and the person behind them grabs that hand with their right hand. Then they run at a given signal to the other end of the
playing area and back. The first team to return 'intact' wins!
Guess Who game
Try this simple Halloween game. Fun and simple party or class game!
When each guest arrives, they get a piece of paper taped the their back with a Halloween character or item written on it(Scooby doo, Dracula,
ghost etc.). The object of the game is for each guest to figure out who they are. Everyone goes around and asks the other guests questions about
their mystery character or item. The guests can only answer yes or no to the questions.
Active Games for Kids (and adults!)
Monster Freeze Dance
Put on "Monster Mash" and other halloween tunes. Have kids show off their silliest monster dance
moves—but they must freeze in place when the tunes turn off!
Snap Apple
Instead of bobbing for apples in a bucket of water (which can really wreak havoc on costumes or face
paint!), have kids try to "snap" a bite from an apple hanging on a string, with their hands behind their
back. You'll need apples with stems—tie the string to the stem, then loop it around a tree branch
(outside) or a broomstick or suspension curtain rod (inside). For added fun, make the apple a 'trick or
treat' flavour by putting four flavouring on four sides, two being sweet like chocloate and jam, and two
being not so nice like marmite and brown sauce. Just watch their faces
Capture the Ghost
Adapt the classic backyard game of Capture the Flag with a ghostly theme! Use white handkerchiefs for
the flags. This adds an extra challenge because it will be hard to tell the teams' flags apart from one
another. For smaller kids, you might want to use Halloween-themed fabric scraps or large felt
pumpkins instead.
Relay Races
Get creative with this one—there are lots of silly ways for kids to get from the starting line to the finish!
Try having them stagger like zombies, fly on broomsticks like witches, or hop like toads. They can also
carry a Halloween-themed snack, on their head, in between their legs, on a spoon
Pumpkin Bowling
Choose smallish pumpkins with short stems (depending on the ages of your party guests). Set up 1- or
2-liter plastic bottles and tape off a starting line for an instant bowling alley. Fill the bottles with a bit of
sand or rice if they topple over too easily. You can also have kids decorate the bottles with stickers,
markers, and other art materials.
Skeleton Scavenger Hunt
Have kids roam the yard or the house on the hunt for skeleton parts (cut from paper, or plastic ones
purchased from a toy store or craft shop). For an extra challenge, see if the party guests can
reassemble their bony treasures into a complete skeleton set.
Musical Pumpkins
Cut pumpkin shapes from construction paper and arrange them on the floor; kids must move from
pumpkin to pumpkin while music plays, just like in musical chairs. To keep kids from being excluded,
allow them to share pumpkins as you remove a pumpkin for each round. By the end of the game, all
the kids have to squeeze onto one spot. For variety, you could also use spider webs, tombstones, or
witchy cauldrons for targets.
Toilet Tissue Mummy
This is a great Halloween game for kids that also promotes team work. Divide the group into two
teams. Give each team 3-4 rolls of white, inexpensive toilet paper. Each team then picks a member of
the team to dress-up as a mummy. The team with the most realistic looking mummy wins.
Pumpkin Relay
The pumpkin relay is just like a traditional relay race, but the team members have to race with a small
plastic pumpkin in-between their knees. This is a very funny race to watch and even more fun to play.
Whipped Scream
WHIPPED SCREAM: Get ready for a fun Halloween party when you play Whipped Scream. You'll find
this party game is a laugh riot, so have a camera handy to take pictures. The Whipped Scream game is
messy and fun for kids. The kids get their faces all messy and can pretend to be a monster. As far as
party supplies go, you'll need lots of plates, whipped cream and bubblegum pieces. Place a piece of
unwrapped bubble gum in the middle of each plate. Cover the bubble gum with a big pile of whipped
cream. Have two players per plate and make them put their hands behind their back and instruct them
to try to be the first person to get the bubble gum in their mouth and blow a bubble. The first person to
blow a bubble wins the game.
THE GRAVE KEEPER
Are your guests ready to play The Grave Keeper this Halloween? You'll have to be sneaky if you want
to play the party game. The Grave Keeper has to keep a watchful eye on the graves on spooky
Halloween night. The game involves zombies and zombies are usually pretty active on Halloween night,
the grave keeper better be on their toes! Choose one person to be the grave keeper and have
everyone else collapse and fall to the ground as if they just died. The grave keeper keeps an eye on
the dead to see if any of them move. If the grave keeper sees someone move they are out of the
game. If the grave keeper has his back turned then the dead can move and try to stand all the way up
without getting caught. The kids may love this Halloween party game so much they'll play it over and
over.
OLD MOTHER WITCH
Looking for a Halloween game that gives the guests something spooky to do? A spooky and exciting
Halloween party game, this Old Mother Witch should keep the party going. Your guests will try to avoid
being caught by the Old Mother Witch at your Halloween party. Have your younger guests pick a player
to be Old Mother Witch, give that player a witch hat to wear. Make sure you have a witch hat before
the party or else pick one up when selecting party supplies. Have the rest of the party games players
line up behind the Old Mother Witch and chant: "Old Mother Witch, Couldn't sew a stitch, Picked up a
penny And thought she was rich." As they walk behind the witch, he or she can stop at any time and
say "Are you there my children?". If the Halloween group says "No" then the witch continues on and
they continue chanting. If the group says "Yes" then the witch turns around and tries to catch
someone. When the witch grabs a player, they become the witch and have to wear the hat and lead
the group in the chant again. Its a tricky party game because if just one player says yes then everyone
must scatter in the party games area to escape the witch.
BOBBING FOR APPLES
Object of the Game
Truly a classic Halloween game, this holiday amusement dates at least as far
back as ancient Rome, when it was believed to be performed during the
Roman harvest festival that honored the Goddess Pamona.
All you need for this fun filled Halloween game is a large plastic, metal or
wooden tub filled most of the way to the top with water and some fresh
apples. Plastic Halloween tubs like the one shown to the right are ideal for
this game and can be found at most department stores during the Halloween
season. Just be sure that you clean out the tub completely before using it for
the game.
First, you will want to remove all of the stems from the apples and wash them
thoroughly. Not to make to any harder than it has to be, we like to use
smaller apples, as they tend to be easier to bite into. Next, fill the tub with an
apple for each player and then fill it to within a few inches of the top with
water. Its also a good idea to have some towels available for players to dry
their faces off with.
The players now take turns trying to retrieve an apple with only their mouth
by placing their heads in the tub. This is actually more difficult than it might
seem, since the apples bob around as you try to bite into them.
Players who are able to retrieve an apple are rewarded with a prize. In the
old days, a player who successfully retrieved an apple won a kiss from the
player of his or her choice.
Hanging Apples Version
Another version of this game is to hang apples with string by there stems
from the ceiling or if outdoors, from tree limbs at head level. Just like in the
water version above, the object is to retrieve an apple using only your mouth.
Just make sure to attach them securely or they will be pulled down as the
players try to bite them.
The same applies in this version for the apples, with smaller one's being
easier for players to bite into. This is great for an outdoor Halloween party as you can hang several apples from tree
limbs for multiple players to try to bite
HAL O'WEEN AND HIS SQUISHY BODY
Object of this Halloween Game
You pass around paper cups to your guests while telling the story below. Do it in the dark or in a semi dark room and
tell them they can't look in the cups. The cups are filled with gross "body parts" (food) and guests have to guess what it
really is.
What You Need
Paper cups. Peeled grapes or olives, peeled stewed tomatoes, piece of uncooked liver or similar meat, wet corn silk or
yarn, catsup, latex glove, gelatin, cold spaghetti, pickle, chicken gristle or hotdog end. Papers and pencils. Don't forget
to keep a box of hand wipes around for guests to clean their hands off with when you are done with the game!
What To Do
Ahead of time, prepare the cups that are described below. Have everyone sit in a circle, then shut off most of the lights
and start the story. You have to have the room fairly dark so that people cannot see what's inside of the cups. You can
pass out paper and pencil a the beginning of the game and let them write down their guesses between each cup or
you can have each player guess out loud between each cup. At the very end of the game, you can tell them what is in
each cup, but wait until the end!!

Check out your local party store and pick up some festive Halloween paper or plastic drinking cups or glasses to add
Halloween flair to the game!
Here's The Story
Tell the story as you pass around each cup. "Once in this town there lived a man named Hal O' Ween. T'was years
ago, on this very night, that he was murdered out of spite. They say these are his remains.
"Here is his brain, which now feels no pain."
(use a peeled squishy tomato or stewed tomatoes)
"Here are his eyes, still swollen with surprise."
(use two frozen, peeled grapes or black olives)
"Here is his heart. Be careful lest it start!"
(use a marshmallow dipped in jam)
"Now we have his hair, which once was so fair!"
(use a handful of corn silk or wet fur or yarn)
"Feel these drops of his blood. All the rest turned to mud."
(use a little ketchup thinned with warm water)
"One hand all alone, just rotting flesh and bone."
(use a wet latex glove filled with red jelly)
"Here is his ear. Nevermore will he hear!"
(use a dried apricot or similar dried fruit)
"This is his nose. Now to never smell a rose."
(use the end of a pickle, a hot dog or a soft chicken bone or gristle)
"These worms are all that's left to feel. For them Hal O'Ween was a lovely meal!"
(use cold, wet, cooked spaghetti)
After the lights are turned back on and everyone has finished writing down their guesses, collect all of the papers. As
you check their guesses, you can show everyone what was really in the cups. Give a nice prize to the person with the
most correct answers.
WEAVING A SCARY TALE
Object of the Game
To create a scary tale, each person getting one minute and the next person take over!
What You Do
Get a pack of index cards and a pen. Write a phrase on each card that would be a scary line for story or that has to do
with Halloween or both! (see below for ideas). Get a minute timer. Then, pass around the deck of cards, face down.
Turn down the lights and light a candle to set the mood or give each person a flash light to hold under their face as
they speak. Each player picks a card from the deck and begins to spin a tale based on the cards scary line, for one
minute.
When the minute is up, he/she hands the cards to the next person, who picks one and turns the story another
direction. They should repeat the last line spoken by the previous person so the story keeps going. The game ends
when the last person has gone, when the cards run out or when everyone has had enough of it, it's an endless game!
This game is better for children over the age of 6 to adults.

THE TELL-TALE TALE
Object of the Game
Send scary messages around the circle and listen to the funny way they change from person to person!
What You Do
The larger the group for this game, the better. Get everyone to sit in a large circle or so each person is about an arms
length apart and can pas this along easily. Have one person pre-picked to start the game and start the original
message going. Have the "originator" whisper a short scary message into the ear of the person sitting to the right of
them. They are only allowed to whisper the message one time. That person then whispers it to the person on their
right, on down the line.
When the message reaches the person sitting to the left of the "originator" or at the end of the line, the message is
spoken aloud. The original message seldom arrives at the end in the same form that it started. Start the game again
using the person to the right of the originating story teller. It's usually a very funny game, seeing how distorted the
message became while it travelled around the circle or down the line.
Tip: Tongue twisters are great for this game.
