5. Description of the project (max 500 characters)
MEDITERRITAGE ENPI CBCMED « economic valorisation of Mediterranean mountains products » is a
follow-up of a MEDITERRITAGE INTERREG IIIC project, implemented by 12 Regions from both North and
South shores of the Mediterranan sea, on the « economic valorisation of natural and cultural resources of
Mediterranean mountains ».
Starting from the methods identified for the valorisation of local productions, MEDITERRITAGE ENPI
CBCMED aims at exchange of experience between the two shores of the Mediterranean basin (North-South,
South-South), with the purpose of creating new economic development opportunities for the populations of the
Mediterranean mountain areas.
The comparative analysis of the productions and territories valorisation approach will bring to the
implementation of pilot projects at local level, middle and long term strategies at each regional partner level,
as well as at a more wider level of Mediterranean cooperation, with the view of guaranteeing the sustainability
of the project results.
6. Main objectives – problems to be addressed (max 500 characters)
In the Mediterranean Sea Basin, and in particular in mountainous areas, local resources are often
underexploited or not exploited at all, due to several difficulties in terms of technics available, organisation
capacity, existing policies, etc.
Local populations need to create innovative and « local resources-based » economic activities, thanks to the
creation of a strong added value for their traditional or innovative productions.
The objective is to offer to local communities of mountainous areas a set of instruments for encouraging the
establishment of a local microeconomy.

Comparative analysis of the products valorisation approach in the Mediterranean moutains (at both levels, of
the territories as well as the regional policies)
Exchange and transfer of good practices and methodologies for the products valorisation
Implementation of a pilot project and elaboration of a strategy in each partner territory
Diffusion of the results through a methodologic manual for the transfer to all the Mediterranean mountains
territories
Proposals of regional policies instruments and transboundary networking for the sustainability of the project.
