                                    Video Transcription

Slide 1: This tutorial is part one of a two part series that will demonstrate how to create a quiz or
poll for your Wimba Live Classroom. Quizzes and polls are great participation features that
allow instructors to test students while inside the live classroom. Furthermore, certain questions
can be previewed and published to class participants in order to spawn class discussion and
student engagement.

Slide 2: To begin, to log into Blackboard. Then select the course you wish to enter.

Slide 3: When the main course page loads, click on the “Tools” link located on the left side bar.

Slide 4: Upon selecting tools, a list of options will appear. Scroll down to the bottom and select
“Wimba Classroom.”

Slide 5: Next, select the “Add & Manage Content Tab” at the top of the page.

Slide 6: Select “Add & Manage Room Content.”

Slide 7: Once the Modify Room pop-up window appears, select “New Folder” located in the top
right corner of the new window. If you have a folder already prepared for the quiz or poll you
wish to add, you can select it by clicking the folder link.

Slide 8: f you have not created the folder for your website link, you will need to select the name
for your new folder. Folder names should be as specific as possible, for instance, if you are
loading a quiz for your third class, use the title “Class 3 quiz.” When you have typed the name
of your folder, press “Create.”

Slide 9: Upon returning to the Modify Room area, select the folder you wish to add a quiz or
poll. For this example, select “Class 3 quiz.”

Slide 10: After entering your folder, choose the type of poll or quiz you wish to create.
You can choose from a single multiple choice question or open ended question, a questionnaire,
or a bullet list. The “Multiple Choice” question, allows you to create a single multiple choice
question. “Open Ended,” lets you ask participants an open ended question that can be responded
to with a simple sentence or paragraph. Selecting a “Questionnaire” allows you to create a series
of questions that students must complete. You can include multiple choice or open ended
questions. Finally, the “Bullet List” option allows you to create an outline of questions or
information to be shown within the live classroom. When you have selected your Poll option,
press “Create.”

Slide 11: In this example we have selected a Questionnaire. To add a question, select the type of
question you wish to create, and then press “Add.”
Slide 12: By selecting a multiple choice question, simply type your question into the area
provided. You can then type in a list of responses for your multiple choice options. You can use
as many response choices as necessary. Additionally, you can allow participants to respond with
multiple answers by check the “Preferences” box. When you have completed adding your
question and response choices, press “Save Changes.”

Slide 13: You can now select to add another multiple choice question or an open-ended question
and when you have completed your questionnaire, press “Add”

Slide 14: When selecting an open-ended question, type in the question on the line next to where
it says “oe” for open ended. Since an open ended question does not require specific answers to
choose from, simply type the question on the line and a response area will be generated within
the questionnaire. If you wish to add more questions, continue to select “Add” after choosing the
type of question you want to create and follow the aforementioned steps. When you are ready to
view your questionnaire, press “Save Changes.”

Slide 15: To view the questionnaire, press the link generated.

Slide 16: A pop-up window for your questionnaire will now appear. When you are finished
viewing your questionnaire, close the window.

Slide 17: If you wish to add more questions to the questionnaire, select the “Edit” button by
clicking the pencil icon. If you are satisfied with your quiz, you can then close the “Modify
Folder” tab.

Slide 18: In the “Add and Manage Content” page, you can return to the main live classroom area
by selecting the link at the top of the page which will be listed with your class title.

Slide 19: Press the “Enter room” button.

Slide 20: When the live classroom loads, look over to the right at the main sidebar.

Slide 21: Press the drop down menu next to where it reads “Default Content Folder.”

Slide 22: From the drop down menu, select the folder that contains your quiz. Then press the
“Go” button.

Slide 23: Your questionnaire will now appear in the content area. Press the link for the
questionnaire.

Slide 24: Your questionnaire is now loaded within the live classroom. All participants in the
room can answer the questions by clicking on the screen and typing or choosing their response.
When they have finished responding, they can press “Submit.”

Slide 25: Upon submitting their quiz, students will receive a message on the screen stating
“Thank you. Your responses were submitted successfully.” You can now return to your regular
class activities by selecting a PowerPoint slide, the eboard, a website, or another quiz or
questionnaire. To view and grade participant responses, please view “How to Review a
Quiz/Poll-Part II.”

Slide 26: Please note: By using multiple choice questions, you have the as the instructor to
preview participants’ results. By loading created multiple choice question into the live classroom,
the slide will allow participants to submit their response.

Slide 27: Once student responses are submitted, the instructor will be able to see how many
students have completed their quiz and can preview results by pressing the “Preview” button.

Slide 28: Additionally, you can select to publish participant results by pushing the “Publish”
button. Publishing question results is a great way to engage participants and promote discussion.
By creating numerous multiple choice questions throughout a live classroom session, instructors
can gage student participation with class readings and activities and also survey students
comprehension.
