All checks must be cashed within 60 days. After 60 days the show account will be closed and payment denied. Important Exhibitor Information 1. Non-Sufficient Funds There will be a $50 charge for NSF checks sent to Friends of HTRC. Upon second refusal from the bank and notification sent to the payer, information on the obligation will be forwarded to both AHA and USEF for action of their part. This can include fines and possible suspension. 2. AHA Member/Non-Member Rules Every owner, trainer, driver, rider and handler must have a valid AHA Competition Level membership card or pay an AHA single event non-member fee of $35 per person. Membership is not required for Leadline or Walk Trot classes. Showmanship is not considered a walk-trot class and all showmanship exhibitors are required to be members of AHA at the competition level or pay the non- member fee of $35. 3. Arena There will be two rings in operation for the show. All performance classes will be held in the 110’ x 214’ indoor arena. Dressage classes will be held in an outdoor arena that has a mixture of sand and dirt footing. The main arena and all warm up arenas have a mixture of sand and dirt footing. 4. Campers The camping fee at MSU is $65 per unit during the show regardless of the length of stay. All camper units that are occupied over night must display a valid permit that can be purchased at the Show Office. Permits must be visibly displayed. Running of generators after midnight is prohibited. Note: Most camping spots do not have water availability. 5. Leased Horses in Amateur Owner Classes Leased horses will be treated as owned horses but may not be shown in an Amateur Owner Class. 6. Discipline Exhibitors are warned that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the officials on the part of an owner, groom, trainer, rider, driver or member of the family of the person participating in the show will disqualify the horse from adjudication. The management reserves to itself the right to remove a groom, horse, rider, trainer, owner or driver from the show without being liable for compensation or damages. 7. Drugs and Medications The USEF Drug Test fee for all horses entered in the show is $15 per horse ($7 drugs & medication and $8 administration USEF fee). It is the responsibility of the Owner to know the rules on drugs and medications. 8. Health Requirements A negative Coggins test is required for all horses exhibited at this show and must be dated within the current calendar year. For horses entering Michigan: (Michigan Statute) all equines require a pre-approved official interstate health certificate or certificate of veterinary inspection prepared by an accredited veterinarian from the State of Origin. An entry permit is not required. 9. Judges No contact shall be made with the judges during the period of the show unless accompanied by a member of the Show Committee designated by the Committee for such purpose. No exhibitor shall approach a Judge regarding a decision without first obtaining permission from the Show Committee or USEF Steward, who shall arrange an appointment with the Judge at a proper time and place. 10. Public Address System The public address system used to call classes is a courtesy only. Exhibitors are responsible for knowing when their class is being judged and presenting themselves and their horse at the entry gate at the appropriate time. A two minute hold of the gate will be in effect. Notify gate and announcer of conflict in classes. 11. Rule Book The rule book of the USEF will prevail for the show. Any changes or corrections of rules will automatically become part of this prize list. Each class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. Questions not covered by USEF rules shall be decided by the Show Committee and its decisions will be final. Violation of any USEF or AHA rule will be cause for immediate removal from the show grounds and all moneys, ribbons, and trophies will be forfeited. 12. Refund Policy/Class Cancellations Any horse withdrawn from the show for any reason before June 25, 2011 shall have all fees refunded. After June 25 2011, requests for refund of class fees will be considered on an individual basis. Refunds granted will be mailed after the close of the show. Refund requests should be given to the Show Secretary prior to the end of the show and must be in writing with a Veterinarians statement as to reason for the cancellation of classes. Class Cancellations: The Show Committee reserves the right to cancel a class if there are fewer than five entries and refunds of class fees will be granted. The Show Committee may split a class with duplicate awards. Classes cancelled due to weather conditions will be refunded. 13. Sharps Containers Sharps containers for used needles are attached to the walls in convenient locations throughout the stalling area. 14. Smoking Smoking is prohibited in the Pavilion and all barns. 15. Registration Requirements All Purebred Arabian and Half Arabian/Anglo Arabian horses to be shown must have been issued a certificate of registration from the AHA Registry and/or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry (CAHR) or the Canadian Partbred Arabian Register (CPAR) or if under one year of age, be eligible for registration and registration applied for. 16. Judging All Classes will use the single judging system. 17. USEF Competition Eligibility GR 1401 Life, Senior Active and Junior Active Members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining competitions, and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 non-member registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1)leadline; 2)exhibitions; 3)games and races; 4)classes for 4-H members; 5)walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6)USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7)NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions; 8)Opportunity classes; 9)citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation; 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handler in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. 18. Stalls/Shavings/Time of Arrival Call 920-992-3293 for Advanced Reservations. To request stalls, call Sally Epps at 920-992-3293 or fax 920- 992-32098. No stalls may be sold except by Show Management. Stalls are mandatory for all horses. No one may show from a trailer. All stalls in the Pavilion have cement floors. All stalls in South Barn have dirt floors. Stalls are approximately 10’ x 10’. No tape, stickers, nails, tacks, staples, hooks, screws and other objects shall be placed in the facilities walls, doors, floors, ceilings, trees, posts or stalls. Exhibitors will be responsible for the cost of repairing damaged or altered stalls. A stall assignment map will be posted at the Show Office and on the north wall of the stall area. No first bedding will be provided. Arrivals: Admission to the show grounds will not be allowed before 8 am on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. All parking will be in designated areas only. Unloading and loading is only permitted in designated areas, if inside the pavilion, the vehicle must be removed immediately upon completion. Cross tying of horses in aisles is prohibited. Stallion Owners: We have no control regarding the gender of the horse in the adjoining stall. It is the responsibility of the Stallion Owner to provide equipment or barriers to protect their horse as well as the neighboring horses. Barriers are available from MSU for a fee. Shavings: Shavings and hay may be purchased from MSU. MSU has the exclusive right to sell bedding and hay at the facility. The sale or delivery of shavings by non-MSU vendors is not allowed. 19. USEF GR 901.29 and GR 1301.7 Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Rule 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. 20. Pets All pets must be on a leash at all times on the grounds and in buildings. USEF has warned competitions to strictly enforce this rule. Pet owners are required to supply an official rabies vaccination certificate showing the date and serum used. Proof of Service Status is required and must be promptly shown if asked to do so. GR1301.6 21. Determining Maiden, Novice, Limit Horse/Rider and Select Rider Ribbons won in one-horse classes do not count in reckoning the maiden, novice or limit status of either horse and/or rider in any division. The status of Maiden, Novice or Limit is as of the closing date of entries, May 2. Maiden—no firsts, Novice—has not won three firsts, Limit—has not won six firsts. Select Rider applies to each discipline separately. Arabian and HA/AA are not considered separately. The rider cannot have won an AHA Regional Championship Top Five or higher or AHA National Top Ten or higher. Arabian and HA/AA division shall not be considered separately when competing in the same performance division. The rider cannot have won two AHA Regional Championship Top Five or higher or two AHA National Top Ten or higher awards in a SELECT CLASS. If the rider is eligible on December 1, 2010, then the rider is eligible throughout the current competition year. USEF AR112(1) 22.USEF Liability Entry Agreement By entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (the “Federation”) and the local rules of the Competition. I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the Competition, the Federation, their officials, directors, and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and /or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/or the Competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cablecasts, broadcasts, internet, film, new media or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the Competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or the Federation. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize amateur status. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. The construction and application of Federation rules are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any action instituted against the Federation must be filed in New York State. USEF GR906.4 23. Complete Entries 1. Include the complete name and address of owners, trainers, riders, handlers, drivers and walk trot riders. 2. The horse owner’s name on the entry form must be exactly as it appears on the registration papers. Leased horses need a copy of the lease agreement and are treated as owned horses but cannot show in any amateur owner classes. 3. AHA single event membership is $35 and USEF non-member fees are $30. Walk Trot 10 & Under, Leadline exhibitors and parents who sign as trainers for children are not required to be members of either organization. Ten year olds and under who show in the showmanship classes must be a member of AHA and USEF or pay non-member fees. 4. The back of the entry form must have all signatures for owner, trainer, and all exhibitors of the horse(s) entered on that form. A parent/guardian signature for all exhibitors under 18 years of age is required. A professional trainer, parent or child may sign in the trainer area. Trainer in this case means the person responsible for the wellbeing of the horse(s). Failure to have all signatures necessary on the form may result in a $250 USEF fine should the entry ever need to be sent to USEF. 5. Enclose a photocopy of the horse’s Coggins test. The original copy will be verified at check-in. 6. Enclose your signed check or other payment instrument. Checks must be made out to Friends of HTRC. 7. Enclose the stall request form located within this booklet. People requesting stalls together must have each other’s names listed on the “stall with” section and must get their entries in by June 25, 2011. If a tack stall is being shared by two or more people, the cost of the stall must be paid in full by one person. 8. All classes, except Championship and Options, entered at the show, regardless of pre-entry, will be charged post entry class fees. 9. If a class is scratched and at the same time another class is added there will be no charge for the scratched class. Any difference in fees will be paid by the exhibitor. A scratched class will not be refunded. 10. At check out or settlement, all amounts owed will be paid in their entirety (no partial payments). Settlement of fees and closing out open checks should be done no less than one hour after the last class ends. You may check out earlier if you have entered your last class—but make sure it is your last class. 11. MSU “Friends” of the Horse Teaching and Research Center Since the 1940s when W. K. Kellogg donated the Arabian stallion Amidore to the University, the Michigan State University Horse Teaching and Research Center (HTRC) has been dedicated to a mission of education and applied scientific research. Today the HTRC enjoys a national and international reputation for excellence in its teaching, research and breeding. The friends of the HTRC will focus on enhancing support for the excellent educational opportunities afforded to students in the equine program at MSU and preserving the unique purebred Arabian breeding and teaching focus of the horse farm. Friends of the HTRC will be encouraged to participate in volunteer activities such as continuing education for the public. The Friends will also sponsor an annual horse show as a fundraiser for the HTRC. Markers shall not be used. USEF Test 16 may only be called for at the National Shows.. 109 Western Horsemanship 13 & Under 110 Hunter Seat Not to Jump Equitation 14-17 116 Saddle Seat Equitation 13 & Under 119 Hunter Seat Equitation Not to Jump 13 & Under 153 AHA Reining Seat Medal All contestants are required to perform a Reining pattern as outlined in USEF Reining Division (EC equivalent). Order of go will be done by draw. Bits must be dropped and inspected by the Judge or designated official, and all riders must dismount for this inspection. If called for in the ring, assistance, if necessary, jay be had from one of the ring officials.. Reins shall not be removed from the horse’s neck while inspecting bits. In the event the total score is tied, the tie will first be broken by the exhibitor with the highest equitation score. Should a tie still exist, the tie shall be broken by in RN 103.2. It is mandatory that judges use the prescribed AHA Score Sheet for Reining Seat Equitation and that the score sheet or copy be posted immediately after each class. 161 AHA Western Horsemanship Medal In addition to the rail work, all contestants are required to perform a minimum of four tests from USEF Arabian, Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian Division, Subchapter Western Horsemanship, AR-26.
