Research a career to find the following information:



1. Career Title

2. Career Description

3. Education

4. Salary

5. Cost of Living Expenses



1. Career Title:

a. Investigate various careers, and then select one to research for your project.



2. Career Description:

a. Write a detailed description of your career in the “Career Description” section of your

PowerPoint. Your description must include the following information found in the

PowerPoint: job description, duties, salary, education needed, etc.

3. Education:

a. Research education options: high school, vocational school, community college,

university.

b. IF YOU ARE NOT PLANNING TO ATTEND COLLEGE, you will still need to

research education options. Every job requires some level of education. Denton High

School offers several classes at the ATC that will prepare you for a job after

graduation. If you are not planning to take advantage of the programs offered at the

ATC, you will still need to research classes offered at DHS that will better prepare

you for your career path. For example, if you plan to be a cashier at a retail store, you

may want to research math classes, speech classes, business classes, etc. that are

offered at DHS.

c. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND A VOCATIONAL SCHOOL,

COMMUNITY COLLEGE, OR UNIVERSITY, research various education facilities

to find the following information: name of school, school location, enrollment

requirements, degree program, requirements for completion, living arrangements,

tuition, general information about the school. As you research education options,

document on a sheet of paper the information you find. This will be submitted for a

grade.

4. Salary:

a. Reality Check – How much will your career pay yearly. There are several ways to

find this information.

5. Cost of Living:

a. Research various sales papers, home ads, car ads, etc. to find out how much it will

cost you to live on your own. Ask your parents if you need help. They can tell you

how much these things cost.

b. You will be provided with a cost of living expense sheet in which you will list your

expenses. This will be a grade.



* Your research MUST include at least two quotes from a book or internet source. The quotes must be

written on index cards. Use your practice note card as an example.



*You will be presenting your project to the class. You will receive one

grade for the completed project and another for presenting it.
