Employment and Training Administration (ETA)

Connecticut was approved for its share of the $7 billion Unemployment Insurance Modernization. ETA notified

the Department of Treasury to transfer the UI Modernization funds of about $58.5 million into the Connecticut The Secretary will be joining Vice President Biden at the Middle Class Task Force event in Denver on May 26. She will

The Employment and Training Administration (ETA) is currently reviewing applications from the District of Columbia,

Ed Montgomery announced that $50 million of the Department’s Green Jobs training funds will be used to fund Nevada, Ohio, Oregon and Washington State for their initial 1/3 share and from Georgia and Iowa for its 100 percent share

ETA has completed issuing award letters to states granting them access to funds for implementing the Federal

Additional Compensation (FAC) program. The total amount of funds is $6.8 million. The new temporary FAC

Boise Cascade, LLC, located in St. Helens, Oregon; and Ace/ Lennox - The Iowa Workforce Development submitted a

dual enrollment application for $469,694 to serve approximately 60 of the 370 workers affected by the closure of ACE

On May 15, 2009, ETA issued a Training and Employment Notice (TEN) No. 44-08, describing the plans for Precision Castings, LLC (10) and layoffs from Lennox Industries, Inc. (50). All of the workers dislocated from both

awarding the discretionary grant “green job training” funds under the Recovery Act so that interested companies have been certified as eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA). This dual enrollment project will

Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA)

EBSA continues to respond to over 1,100 COBRA inquiries on a daily basis. There have been almost 79,500

since the enactment of the ARRA.

EBSA now has over 33,300 subscribers to www.dol.gov/cobra who will receive automatic notices of new or

updated COBRA announcements with over 1,160,000 total visitors since enactment of the Recovery Act.

The Center dedicated to processing expedited review requests of COBRA premium subsidy denials is operational and the 

application is available on EBSA's COBRA website at http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/COBRA/main.html.
