Supervisor Says…

“Working with an experienced, hard-working Graduate Assistant who cares about students is a dream come true.

A part time Graduate School of Social Work student, Jenna Cassoli is in her third year as a Graduate Assistant at the

Career Center.

Jenna coordinates Career Center programming for RA’s so she can often be found in the residence halls doing

workshops such as Resume Prep, Interview Skills and Internship Search. As the sciences liaison, she coordinates

Science Night, a program giving students the chance to learn about careers directly from BC alumni working in the

field. She also does weekly science drop-in hours. Many students recognize Jenna by now and look for her during

her drop-in hours in Higgins.

The roles of RA liaison and sciences coordinator, as well as other Career Center programming and drop-in duties,

keep her pretty busy but she still finds time and energy to add her own creative ideas to Career Center

programming. In May of last year she initiated and coordinated, along with GA Tiffany Enos, a successful Senior

Day program designed as a last ditch effort to reach out to seniors who had not yet visited the Career Center. She

also initiated a customized bulletin board program for RA’s. The RA’s let her know what their residents are

interested in and she puts together all of the materials. The RA’s then come by the Career Center to pick up

envelopes for their ready-made bulletin boards. It’s a great way to get career information to students and makes

life a little easier for the RA’s.

I am currently trying to talk Jenna into becoming a career counselor. She connects to the students wonderfully, has

great career programming skills and seems to very much enjoy what she is doing. Next year will be her last year in

the GSSW program and as a Graduate Assistant. It will be extremely hard to let Jenna go. She has been a

tremendous benefit to the Career Center and to Boston College students. Luckily, I still have her here for the rest

of this year and next so I think I’ll put off thinking about ‘life after Jenna’ until 2013.”
