DEFORESTATION
CAUSES AND EFFECTS
According to the National Remote Sensing
Agency the Forest area in Andhra Pradesh is
40,435 sq. km. It is 14.60% in the total area of
Andhra Pradesh.
According to National Policy 33% of
Land area should be covered with forests.
Andhra Pradesh occupies the 15th
place in forest area in India.
People cut forests for different purposes. They cut
down trees for fire wood, furniture, house making,
coal, for agriculture and to establish industries.
CUTTING DOWN OF TREES FALLING DOWN OF TREES
Thousands of acres of forests are cut down to establish factories and for farming.
After cutting down the trees in the forest.
For agricultural purpose and to cultivate different
kinds of crops and to establish industries Forests
are cut down. This process is increasing year by
year.
Logs of wood are cut into different sizes
to make furniture and to make other
household items.
Wood is made into furniture.
Trees are cut down to build houses.
For construction of irrigation projects, thousands of acres of
forest land is used. Due to these heavy constructions a lot of
forest area is drowned.
Due to volcanic fire and lava many
acres of land is destructed.
Due to wild fire thousands
of acres of forests and
valuable wood is burnt in
every summer.
Due to deforestation there is a
severe change in the earths
atmosphere.
Pollution increases,
Rainfall Decreases,
Depletion of ground water,
and leads to Soil erosion,
Land sliding and
Health problems.
There is an imbalance in the percentage of gases in the atmosphere. Due to
deforestation Oxygen percentage is decreased and the gases like carbon-di-oxide
and other gases which cause different health problems are increasing.
Due to deforestation there
is decrease in rainfall.
Low rainfall leads the land
to become deserts .
Because of weather pollution sometimes there will be heavy rainfall.
Again this leads to floods and sometimes acid rain.
Soil erosion will happen due
to deforestation, this makes
fertile lands barren and then
the agriculture production
will decrease.
Sometimes land slides will
take place due to
deforestation and causes
damages to property and
lives.
Deforestation, soil erosion and land
slides endanger the lives of human
beings.
Because of Atmospheric
pollution, diseases may increase and
many deaths will happen.
Deforestation leads to poverty,
which ultimately lead to malnutrition and
spread of deceases.
