Enhancing ANIMAL CROSSING CITY FOLK

software contained in these links, are responsible for anything that happens to your Wii should
you decide to attempt any of this.
You are responsible for your own actions in these attempts.
Overview: Read first
Homebrew is a channel that will be added to your Wii’s main screen much like adding any game/channel
from the Nintendo shop channel Homebrew is used to access other applications that are freeware from
other Homebrew programmers.
Savegame Extractor: is an application that will save your AC game to the SD card
Savegame Installer: is an application that will put the savefile that you have modified with other pc
applications back on your Wii through the sdcard.
ACToolkit: is the program you use on your pc to modify your town.
Pattview: Is a pc program that you can access your patterns that are in your pockets and save them to
your pc, or import patterns from your pc back to your game.
Every application I’ve seen for homebrew has a “boot.dol” or “boot.elf” file. That file must keep it’s name
in order for it to work. Since each application has it’s own “boot.dol” file you need to have each one in it’s
own folder.
When you first install homebrew you will need to have the “Boot.dol” file straight on the sd card (what they
call a “root directory” that just means “don’t put it in a folder” so on your sd card you will have the
boot.dol file plus a folder called “Apps” plus a folder called “Private” You can get these from
http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/index.new.php You need to check which version your last update on the Wii
was. That link is for version 4.2 if you have a different version you can link from that page to find what
you need.
If you come across the “Twilight Hack” it doesn’t work for Wii version 4.2. Save yourself the time
and just load the Bannerbomb installation. Here http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Bannerbomb you need to
download the HackMii Installer
WARNING #2
Nintendo frowns on “unauthorized” programs added to the wii. Homebrew is “unauthorized”.
Even if they (homebrewers) say that it is safe to update, I don’t unless I delete the homebrew
channel first. Nintendo is always searching for new ways to stop this program and what may be
safe today, maynot be tomorrow. Nintendo can “Brick” your Wii which renders it useless if they
detect any “unauthorized” programs during an update. You can always reinstall Homebrew again
after you’ve updated, but quite honestly Nintendo never adds anything worth updating for. The
only times I’ve updated were when they force an update to use the shop channel and I want to get
a new game.
Ok that’s out of the way.
To load Homebrew you will need your SD card loaded with the files downloaded from the site above.
They usually unzip with all the folders in place for loading Homebrew.
You put your sd card in the wii and click on the sdcard icon in the lower left of the screen. They tell you
that if you paid your were scammed and it seems to take forever then it says to press the A button on the
Wiimote. It’s an old DOS program looking thing and it will say that it “Can” be installed then you have to
select the choice to “Install” Most people end up doing this a couple times because I don’t think it gives
you confirmation. If you go back out to your Wii’s main menu you should see the HB channel. If
you don’t have any applications in the “Apps” folder then you wont see anything when you start
HB. HB is just the access… you need to put applications in the Apps folder
This is what my sdcard looks like… each indent or tab in, is what is inside that folder
Boot.dol on your sdcard
Private folder
Apps folder Links:
Savegame Installer folder: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Savegame_Installer
Savegame Extractor folder: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Savegame_Extractor
Gecko folder: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Gecko_OS
Codedownloader folder: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Code_Downloader
Codemanager Folder: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/CheatManager
And other programs….. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_homebrew_applications
Codes Folder – For the file that will be created by the “Codemanager“ program
txtcodes folder – to put downloaded cheetcodes in from the “Codedownloader” program
Then on your PC your will need http://actoolkit.game-hackers.com/
ACtoolkit - to modify your AC:CF town
Pattview – to import and export patterns
NPC tool – to modify your townies
Here is the best guide I’ve found for using the ACtoolkit.
