                                                Industry Analysis

Economic outlook

The economy of the United States is in recovery and looking brighter. Slow employment growth is keeping Americans out

of the housing market and it may be a few years before housing is back to pre-recession levels. . The housing market may

finally be seeing a rebound. The rebound seems selected. Still, the recent data featured a 16.7 % increase in building

permits in December 2010 and a 17.5% rise in new home sales. Recovery in the housing market will likely be slow going.

In other areas, increases in manufacturing, nonmanufacturing and personal income have been noted. The Christmas

season witnessed decent but, not exceptional gains. Gross Domestic Product (GDP growth) easily exceeded 2.8% by thend

of the fourth quarter. There is also a positive trend in consumer confidence and other leading indicators
The Recreation Industry

The Recreation Industry covers everything from low cost toys to high priced motorcycles, cruises, rafting, ballooning, and

fishing. Moderate growth for this segment is expected for the next eighteen months and a great horizon with healthy

growth for the next three to five years.

The Hotel and Gaming Industry

People travel for a variety of reasons, including for vacations, business, and visits to friends and relatives. For many of

these travelers, hotels and other accommodations will be where they stay while out of town. For others, hotels may be

more than just a place to stay; they are destinations in themselves. Resort hotels and casino hotels, for example, offer a

variety of activities to keep travelers and families occupied for much of their stay.

Bed and Breakfast

Bed-and-breakfast inns provide short-term lodging in private homes or small buildings converted for this purpose and are

characterized by highly personalized service and inclusion of breakfast in the room rate. Their appeal is quaintness; they

typically provide unusual service and unique decor.

Demand in the Hotel and Gaming Industry is expected to grow 3% to 4% for each of the next two years but supply is on a

pace to show only very small improvements, so lodging companies are likely at the beginning stages of a multiyear run.

Factors that determine revenue per available room include supply and demand, Gross Domestic Product, corporate

profits, consumer sentiment, and unemployment. Supply and demand, Gross Domestic Product, corporate profits all show

a strong rebound and will have a great impact on upscale and luxury establishments.

“The lodging industry is moving towards more limited-service properties mostly in suburban, residential, or commercial

neighborhoods, often locating hotels near popular restaurants. Many full-service properties are limiting or quitting the

food service business altogether, choosing to contract out their food service operations to third party restaurateurs,

including long-term arrangements with chain restaurant operators. Urban business and entertainment districts are

providing a greater mix of lodging options to appeal to a wider range of travelers. “

Increased competition among establishments in this industry has spurred many independently owned and operated hotels

and other lodging places to join national or international reservation systems. This allows travelers to make multiple

reservations for lodging, airlines, and car rentals with one telephone call or Internet search. Nearly all hotel chains and
many independent lodging facilities operate online reservation systems through the Internet or maintain Web sites that

allow individuals to book rooms. Online marketing of properties is so popular with guests that many hotels promote

themselves with elaborate Web sites and allow people to investigate availability and rates.

includes a nice three bedroom home. She would also like to build a log Bed and Breakfast establishment on the property.

The average cost for building a log home is $110 per square foot for the log structure and $55 per square foot for garage

and basement. The average bed and breakfast is 5,500 ft. so the cost of the log bed and breakfast would be approximately

$605,000. Sleeping Moose Bed and Breakfast could be a smaller structure of 2,000 to 2,500 square feet to reduce the cost

of construction with the option of adding on as the business improves over the years. Starting with a smaller Bed and

Breakfast of 2,500 square feet, the Bed and Breakfast would cost $275,000. The total for land, home and building would

be $ 524,000.

Sleeping Moose Bed And Breakfast, as a four room establishment would be able to generate annual income $131,000. This

assumes a %60 occupancy rate. Looking at a three year cash flow projection, it is apparent that Sleeping Moose Bed And

Breakfast will become very profitable very quickly. Three months of expenses have been used as the starting cash amount

to ensure that expenses will be paid during the startup phase after construction.
