Description of Subcommittees, and Annual Schedule of Events. Members will be asked at next month’s

meeting to serve on their committee(s) of choice. We will also need to vote for on a Vice President,

Secretary and Treasurer.

Committee Reports:

Excellence Awards – Rand Swenson is a carry over member from last year’s committee. No date has been

chosen yet for the Service Awards Banquet. The date is determined by the President’s Office. Last year the

first announcement was sent out mid-September with an Oct. 31 deadline. Announcements should be sent

via both e-mail and hardcopy to all staff, chairpersons and supervisors. This is for staff only.

Fundraising – Clare Hauck is a carry over member from last year’s committee. Clare reported all 900

raffle tickets printed were sold with a total income of $697. Dean turned in 20 unsold tickets at the meeting

so total tickets sold were 880. Raffle winners were Virginia Klenk – MSU Parking Permit; June Bengston -

$20.00 MSU Bookstore Gift Certificate; Karla Nelson – CSA Henley shirt; Doug Hamilton, Michele

Eberhardt and Corrine Lemke - $10.00 Marriot Lunch Certificates.

Discussion pertaining to selling shirts is on hold until a decision is made on the University’s potential name

change.

The Ice Cream Social was well received with $168.62 raised.

It was asked of members to consider other ideas for further fundraiser ideas. It was suggested to pursue

athletic game passes for raffle prizes.

New Staff Orientation – No carry over members from last year. Nothing to report. Need to contact Deb

Lewis for new staff listings. Darel Paulson does the photography and has gift mugs. Will need to contact

new staff for Staff Notes’ October issue.

Social Events - Rand Swenson is a carry over member from last year’s committee. Homecoming is

October 9. Arrangements have been made to borrow Grounds Department’s red pickup. Will need

members to assist with preparation, parade, etc. Need to contact Homecoming Committee for their theme

and registration.

Fall Convocation is scheduled for August 25. Rand or Claire will carry the CSA banner. All members are

asked to participate in the academic procession.

Staff Picnic has been rescheduled for August 17 beginning at 5:30 PM at Gooseberry Park. Kathy

mentioned any CSA member assistance would be appreciated. Anyone who can help should contact Deb

Lewis to reconfirm.

The All Staff Meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 2, at 9:00 AM. Location is

undetermined. Rose and Deb will announce winners of the Staff Scholarships and the raffle. They’ll also

speak briefly about the Excellence Awards and the upcoming Staff Scholarship drive. CSA members will

also be introduced. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

The St. Patrick’s Day Party hasn’t been very successful. It was suggested we consider dropping it.

Rand mentioned CSA should consider assisting with the 4th of July event. We can assist rather than take

responsibility of a specific event. Kathy suggested even helping recruit other staff members would be

beneficial. Consideration will be given.

Staff Notes – Claire Hauck is a carry over member from last year’s committee. Claire mentioned the next

issue of Staff Notes should be coming out the end of August. She also displayed new ideas in a color

scheme for future editions. After some discussion it was decided to go with white background with a red

color.

A group photo of all CSA members will be taken at the October meeting. Darel Paulson will be contacted.

Staff Scholarships – Judy Mrosla is a carry over member from last year’s committee. There was nothing

new to report.

Other Business – The idea of designing and maintaining a CSA Web Page was discussed. It would be a

great tool for CSA and MSU promotions. Discussion will continue at the October meeting.
