Ceramic Pop Art Parodies
Students will combine the concepts from the Pop Art movement and their advanced
ceramic skills to produce a finished ceramic piece of Pop art.
Task:
-Take the time to review some of the more famous Pop Artists such as Andy Warhol,
Roy Lichtenstein, and Claus Oldenburg. See what how their sculptural works took
everyday objects and shined a new light on them.
-look around your own environments, what objects pop out to you as iconic or the
contrary something that is overlooked and very common.
-create a simple blueprint in your head about construction techniques and begin.
-Final product should resemble the original object as closely as possible. Under glazes,
slips and glazing should also be considered to produce the final product.
-As a final step write up a simple statement explaining how to feel about the final
product as well as why you think this could possibly have fit into a Pop Art theme.
