SCASFAA Consumer Relations Committee Minutes

The SCASFAA Consumer Relations Committee met on Friday, October 28, 2011, at the South Carolina Student Loan
Corporation building, 16 Berryhill Rd., Columbia, SC. Those present were: Carol Parker, Violette Hunter, Missy Lutz, Lisa
Jeffords, Kevin Woods, Laura Moore, and Cindy Evans.
Site coordinators for the event that have been confirmed at this time are:
Central Carolina Technical College – Sarah Dowd (Lisa Jeffords)
Claflin University – Terria Williams
Francis Marion University – Kim Ellisor
Greenville Technical College – Carol Parker (and Kevin Delp-Bob Jones University)
Horry-Georgetown Technical College – Deborah Stevens
Lander University – Fred Hardin
Newberry College – Missy Lutz
Richland Co. Public Library – Violette Hunter (USC TRiO)
Spartanburg Community College (Cherokee Campus) – Laura Moore/Cindy Evans
Technical College of the Low Country – Cleo Martin
Tri-County Technical College – Kevin Woods
Trident Technical College – Josephine Brown
USC Lancaster – Ken Cole
USC Upstate – Cassandra Mitchell
Williamsburg Technical College – Ashley Owens
Site coordinators will need to confirm specific locations for printed materials no later than November 15 .

Following introductions and confirmation of the date for College Goal SC on Saturday, February 18, 2012, committee
members contributed to “2011 Lessons Learned and Words of Wisdom.”
At this time, we anticipate the same level of support from CHE as in previous years. We will be requesting Palm cards,
posters, and flyers for all sites, as well as providing banners and directional signs for new locations. Each site should plan
to receive a “mini-grant” to assist in the purchase of refreshments, and CHE will provide t-shirts for volunteers. We are
also hoping for t-shirts for students if CHE can secure a donor again. A free Ipod is a possibility for each location, but CHE
might be able to secure something else too (stay tuned)!
Volunteers will be asked to sign up by a “yet-to-be-determined” deadline, and supply their t-shirt size for the order. It is
time to begin spreading the word about the date and obtaining commitments from volunteers, and notifying high school
guidance counselors as well other colleges in the area about the event. As soon as possible, we will have promotional
pieces mailed to Site Coordinators to be distributed in your communities.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Friday, January 28, 2012. A different location is likely since we believe SC
Student Loan Corp will be in their new facility at that time. More information will follow.
Travel reimbursement forms were distributed to those who needed them.
