Depending on enrollment numbers, you may have to work alone on a pair assignment or in an
undersize team on a team assignment.
Remember, you must be able work effectively in teams to succeed in information technology!
Due date: Must be submitted to me by the start of class next week.
Task
The purpose of this task is to help familiarize yourself with your program and gain an
appreciation as to why your program contains the courses it does.
Go to the Information Technology home page and find your program as per your
graduating year. Print it out.
Find two (2) information technology jobs such as: Developer, Programmer, Business
Analyst, Tester, Project Manager, Architect, Systems manager, etc.
You can look on any of the job boards such as www.workopolis.com, www.monster.com,
www.indeed.com, or go to any company’s career section on their website, like RIM,
Open Text, SunLife, IBM, CGI, etc
Look at the competencies or skills required for the job and list them. Beside the skills
identified for the job, list the courses that are outlined in your program that you feel
applies to the skill outlined.
Be sure to paste the job listings you used in your assessment. I have provided an example
below and you can use my chart as a template for your work if you wish or create your
own.
