What food do people eat

at Easter?

What food do people eat at Easter?

 Easter is in spring. Spring is the season for asparagus. For this reason

you see recipes with asparagus on the Internet frequently; asparagus

soup, asparagus salad, etc. Also frequently something with eggs, so that

you have that feeling of Easter. In the menu you start, of course, with a

first course. Much choice. It can’t be too large, but it must satisfy your

hunger a little bit and give a nice taste in your mouth. Afterwards the main

dish comes. That is frequently with a salad because that is nicely fresh in

spring. With a bit of tender flesh, such as lamb. Of course there also

vegetarian courses, such as ice rice with orange. Or salad with tofu. And

then of course the dessert. This can be ice cream, or tiramisu. On the

Internet you can also find many original desserts. Such as mint-chip ice.

There is special Easter Bread, it’s filled with sugar and mixed almonds.

Easter eggs

Easter Eggs

 In the Netherlands the hare has got a basket on his back, filled with eggs.

Some children believe that the hare is hiding the eggs in the garden. An

enthusiastic quest at Easter morning is part of this tradition. These days

we use chocolate eggs. Painting eggs and figurines is an important part of

Easter.

 On Easter Sunday or Easter Monday Easter fires are lit in a large part of

Europe. For this- frequently weeks or even months previously- much

wood is collected and is laid in a large pile which is sometimes dozens of

meters high. As the darkness falls the whole pile is set on fire. The fires

frequently attract many witnesses and generally it is a real rural event. It

concerns here an old tradition of which it is assumed that it has a

Christian origin. In some parts of Europe they do not burn fires on Easter

Monday, but on Easter Sunday or on the Saturday before

 Eggs play an important role around Easter each year. Why?

 Some people ascribe that habit to the Old Persians. According to the

leaders of Zoroaster, a wise man who supposedly lived in the seventh

century by our chronology, there existed a large spirit from which all light

originated and from that light two rothers arose: Ormoezd and Ahriman.

The last one could not stand his brother and for this reason he had been

by large spirit to live for three thousand years in deepest darkness. Once

those years Ahriman created a large number of angry spirits who got the

task to fight against the good spirits the good spirits of Ormoezd. And

when Ormoezed made an egg, which he filled with good spirits, Ahriman

made one which he crammed with angry spirits. Both eggs vomited and

both angry and good spirits could spread themselues the ground. As a

reminder of this fact, the Old Persians still celeb ate their eggs’festival

around March. Then they give each other in the form of eggs, stuffed with

all kinds of surprises for their friends or to tease their enemies.
