                 OBJECTIVES

1. Gain a better understanding of online learning
  and the strategies to
  • expand flexible learning and new
technologies adoption in disciplines and with
teachers who have demonstrated a slow take-
up or resistance to flexible learning

  • ensure good teaching practice in flexible and
  online learning environments.
2. Identify key success elements and strategies
   for managing flexible learning environments
3. Develop strategies and media for the sharing
of knowledge and skills about good teaching
practice in flexible and online learning with
   everyone in the organisation.
4. Investigate the scope and effectiveness of
   online assessment

• Promote cultural change – enhance positive attitudes and
behaviour that reflect flexible learning and commitment to
  personal learning through:
  - Modelling flexible learning in pd programs
  - Integrating pd and work : “Learning is Work is Learning”
  - Using and applying technology in work and learning

“The total development of our people is essential to achieving
                 our goal of corporate excellence”

                 Integrate Assessment

• We talk about flexible learning – What about flexible
  assessment?
• Assessment is integral to the learning design process,
  not something bolted on afterwards
• Improvement in assessment will happen when it is part
of a larger set of conditions that promote change

  mechanisms that permit flexible assessment”

• Diversity issues and awareness emerge from interaction
of learners – not from within learning materials
• Diversity in groups for learning
• Project-based learning with diverse groups
• A new set of skills?

      Achieving the Vision - Summary
Flex-Able Professional Development
by including and modelling flexible learning principles,
pedagogies and technologies in teacher training and
professional development

Integrate Assessment
by refocusing on design of assessment processes,
creating peer support groups where assessment
strategies are discussed and develop evaluative
frameworks that measure outcomes.

Improve Learning Design
by focusing on pedagogical issues not content. Include
all stakeholders in the design process. Focus on
outcomes.
Recreate Good Teaching Practice
by establishing self, peer and client review of teaching
practice and delivery quality

Increase Partnerships
by strengthening industry links at the teacher level

Diversity through Practice
by establishing local, regional, national and international
relationships across a range of target groups through
eLearning environments
