Perennial Bluegrass
Uses: The uses of top performing INSPIRE Perennial Ryegrass are endless due to the speed of establishment and the
dark green, low growing qualities. In southern areas, perennial ryegrass is the standard for over seeding during the
winter months. INSPIRE will do an excellent job in either new construction or overseeding, especially when compared
to mixes using common or lower performing types. Contractors and municipalities and turf managers can receive excellent
performance at a good value.
Geographical Adaptation: From the northern portion of the transition zone, north throughout the cool season turfgrass
zone. Perennial ryegrass is equally at home over seeded into Bermuda for beautiful winter turf in southern climates.
Features: INSPIRE achieved the second highest rating of all perennial ryegrasses for fairway turf quality in the most
recent turf trials and was rated best for grey leaf-spot resistance in the 2000 data. Low growing, dense and dark green.
Unlike older varieties, INSPIRE’s growth is focused on lateral rather than upright thereby reducing mowing and more
closely matching the growth habit of Kentucky bluegrass.
MD/VA RECOMMENDED CULTIVAR.
Production Areas: Washington, Oregon
Rate: Overseeding: 2–14 lbs/1,000 Sq. Ft
New Seeding: 4–7 lbs/1,000 Sq. Ft
