More options to get a college degree:

Nine four-year institutions will offer

degree programs at Lakeland

If you’re a resident in or near Lake County, look no further. Now there’s a way to earn

bachelor’s and graduate degrees at Lakeland’s Kirtland campus.

Lakeland has partnered with nine four-year institutions to offer this convenience to the

community.

The new program, “Holden University Center of Lakeland Community College,” has been

named in honor of the long-time higher education supporters and local philanthropists,

Arlene and Arthur Holden.

Arthur S. Holden Jr. was the first chairman of the Lakeland board of trustees and was an active

supporter of Lakeland until his death in 2008. He and his wife, Arlene, led and supported

many initiatives at Lakeland for over forty years. Today, Arlene continues this legacy.

As a student at the Holden University Center, you’ll be able to take upper division junior and

senior level undergraduate courses toward a bachelor’s degree completion program.

Classes are taught by faculty assigned by each partnering university. As a graduate, you will

receive your degree from the institution of the degree program. Each university partner

determines its own tuition and fees. The degree is the same as having completed a program

on the four-year campus!

You’ll have access to resources on Lakeland’s main campus like the library, the Athletic and

Fitness Center, the dining hall, child care (available while students are in class on campus),

and parking lot shuttles.

Visit www.lakelandcc.edu/uc to sign up to receive information as it becomes available.

Is a career in manufacturing for you?

Try a few classes and f ind out!

Northeast Ohio is buzzing about jobs in manufacturing.

But if you’re not sure what those jobs are, what they entail

or require, or what possibilities exist for a manufacturing

career, you may not be job-ready. However, Lakeland can

help!

Lakeland offers options to “test the waters” to see if

manufacturing might be the right career path for you.

Certificate and training programs through the continuing

education department, such as industrial maintenance or

welding, can introduce you to the f ield without requiring a

large amount of time or f inancial commitment.

Today’s manufacturers are looking for skilled professionals

who can think on their feet and problem solve when issues

arise with hi-tech equipment. This equipment is largely

controlled by computers, but humans are needed to run

those computers, some of which resemble large robots.
