Dress Code
Registrants traveling as a group should remember that they are representing SkillsUSA
and forming a public impression of the organization. When traveling, registrants are not
required to wear official SkillsUSA attire, but they are encouraged to wear clothing with
the SkillsUSA logo — for example, an embroidered polo shirt with khaki slacks.

At all times, whether traveling or during the conference, registrants’ overall appearance
should be clean and neat. Their attire should be appropriate for the occasion. Contestants
must follow the clothing requirements in the official technical standards for their
contests. During formal events such as the opening and awards ceremonies, official
SkillsUSA attire is required.

Opening and Awards Ceremonies Attire
As an organization, we must portray a professional image to the business, industry,
education and government representatives attending the opening and awards sessions.
Official SkillsUSA attire should be worn to the opening ceremony. The national board
of directors has ruled that students who come on stage during the awards ceremony be
dressed in official SkillsUSA attire or SkillsUSA Championships work clothing. Students
not wearing official SkillsUSA attire or Championships work clothing will not be allowed
on stage. Other attire is not allowed, including jeans, shorts, T-shirts, tank tops, sneakers,
boots and sandals. This rule will be enforced, and any awards earned will be presented
backstage if the student is not dressed properly.

   Official SkillsUSA Attire
 Women: Red SkillsUSA blazer, windbreaker or sweater; white blouse
(collarless or small-collared), black dress skirt or black dress slacks, black
sheer (not opaque) or skin-tone seamless hose, and black shoes.
 Men: Red SkillsUSA blazer, windbreaker or sweater, white dress shirt, solid
black tie, black dress slacks, plan black socks and black dress shoes.

Additional SkillsUSA Michigan Trading Pins Pre-Order Form
We will be taking pre-orders for additional trading pins for Nationals. Pre-orders must be
faxed to the state office by May 29, 2011. The pre-order form is attached. As part of
your registration, all registrants will receive seven (7) state trading pins. Additional state
trading pins will be available for purchase while at Nationals while supplies last.

National Courtesy Corps
The National Courtesy Corps is the elite group of high school and post high school
students as well as advisors and chaperones who are selected to represent their state
delegation. These individuals are afforded the opportunity to work with and build a
network of industry and educational resources while gaining skills, leadership qualities,
developing friendships and having fun. The National Courtesy Corps guidelines are
available at http://skillsusa.org/downloads/PDF/NLSC/corps.pdf.

Packages and Storage
Special arrangements must be made for receiving any equipment, goods, displays or other
materials that will be sent, delivered or brought into the Hotel. Failure to do this may
result in deliveries being refused or materials being unavailable when required. The

materials being sent to the Hotel must be marked as follows:

CLIENT’S NAME (Person who will ask for and pickup package(s))

unavailable and prior arrangements have not been made for box/package storage, Hyatt
Regency Crown Center reserves the right to refuse early freight deliveries.

The Hotel does not accept any liability for equipment, goods, displays or other materials
that arrive or fail to arrive at the Hotel. The Group is responsible for insuring its property
for loss or damage. All packages should be clearly marked with a return address.

Drayage companies must be used for packages necessary for an exhibit show.

RETRIEVAL –When you are ready to retrieve your package from the Hyatt storage area,
simply call the bell stand to have it delivered to your location or call extension 7550 to
have a bellman bring it to you.

                                                                                            14
Please remember that most shippers deliver packages to the Hyatt between 10:30AM and
2:00PM, and it may take the receiving department up to one hour to process all packages
once delivered. Therefore, some same day deliveries may not be available until 11:30AM

HOTEL PACKAGE/MATERIALS SHIPPING PROCEDURE – All groups or individual
guests that would like the Hyatt to ship packages for them must fill out a Shipping
Request Form for each outgoing item. This will give the Hyatt vital information including
proper addresses, phone numbers, billing arrangements, speed of delivery required and
requested shipping company. All packages must be securely taped or banded and have an
address label on EACH package for the shipment. All old package labels must be
removed or clearly crossed off to insure that there is no confusion during the shipping
process. No US Postal shipments will be accepted, only freight companies
such as UPS, Federal Express, etc.

If a group or individual guest wishes to send out a shipment using their own shipping
account, and requests that the Hyatt handle the materials to the dock for pick-up, then the
outgoing charges will apply:

               Weight/LBS Charge
               Letter/Envelopes $5.00
               Boxes 0-19 lbs. $10.00 per box/package
               Boxes 20 –49 lbs. $15.00 per box/package
               50 lbs. and up $25.00 per box/package
Shrink wrapped pallets $100.00 per pallet
               Oversize & Display Cases $25.00 per box/package

If packages require storing and holding for more than six (6) hours, the Hyatt reserves the
right to charge a $5.00 per package storage fee.
For deliveries from Hotel to Crown Center Exhibit Hall add $20.00 to other charges.

In-Room Movies and Outgoing Phone Service
To avoid billing problems, in-room movies and outgoing phone service will not be
available unless proper credit is established. This would include a significant cash
deposit, paid in advance, or the imprint of a valid credit card.
