NORTHERN IRELAND WATER WELCOMES MEETING WITH
INDEPENDENT REVIEW PANEL
Northern Ireland Water (NIW) has had its first formal meeting with the Review
of Water and Sewerage Services Panel on Monday 30 July 2007.
Speaking following the meeting, Katharine Bryan, Chief Executive of NIW,
commented: “NIW welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Review
Panel and we recognise the extremely challenging remit and timescales
which the Panel are working to. NIW is fully committed to supporting
the review in whatever way it can.
“We were pleased with the professional, open and frank approach
adopted in our meeting and we feel that there is a great deal of
“common ground” between ourselves and the Review Panel.
“NIW want to provide a strong, efficient water and waste water system
which promotes a consistently high standard of service and a fair deal
for customers.
We are hopeful that this review will deliver clarity and stability into water
policy and funding. This will allow further progress to be made in the
improvement of the quality of services to customers and the investment
in infrastructure needed to deliver a 21st century service.
In conclusion, Katharine added, “The provision of high quality water and
wastewater services based on a robust infrastructure is essential to
support the future development of Northern Ireland socially,
economically and environmentally. Against this backdrop, the work of
the review team is absolutely essential and we at NIW intend to fully
support their work.”
