Assignment #1: WD_01
Assignment WD_01 should be completed after you have finished all the work up
to the end of page 37, Unit 1, Section 1 “Web Design”.
Remember that assignments may not be resubmitted so it is important to make
sure you have completed all work to the best of your ability, that you have
followed the assignment instructions and have used the proper procedures and
steps for submitting your assignment.
Instructions
Section 1 of this unit covers a lot of information on good web design and “best
practices” to use when designing websites to ensure that the end product is
useful, rich in content, user friendly, technically “courteous” and is aesthetically
appealing (looks good).
In this assignment, you will use what you have learned from Section 1 and what
you learn from further research on the Internet to compile a list of criteria or
standards that can be used to evaluate website design.
For example, the following shows a few criteria for evaluating whether a website
is technically “courteous”:

Website ratings
Once you have decided on the list of criteria that you will use to judge websites,
open Microsoft Word and create a table where you will list your criteria. You will
use a scale of 1 to 3 for your evaluation of each criterion:
3 points –excellent
2 points –good
1 point –poor
Your finished table should look something like the following example (except you
will have a much longer list that you will use):
