Dear Reader,
About two years ago, Bill Bonner, the owner of our parent company, asked me what we had
that could treat tinnitus. My answer was "nothing." But Bill's request, combined with the
dozens of letters we get from members about it, has kept us searching.
2
Those of us who haven't had tinnitus can only imagine how maddening it can be - a continual
undercurrent of buzzing, ringing, roaring sound in your ears. For some, it's only an occasional
problem. But for millions of people, it's a chronic condition that affects them every day of
their lives.
Sometimes the cause is easily identified and easily treated; a bacterial infection, a virus, a
nerve disorder, or even a medication you're taking. But too often, there is no defined cause
and no cure.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Could gingko biloba be the answer to tinnitus?
--------------------------------------------------------------
For years, alternative medicine has suggested that the Asian herbal remedy gingko biloba
can help relieve tinnitus. But research results have been mixed. Now a new study supports
the idea that gingko biloba can be an effective alternative for people suffering with tinnitus
and other auditory problems.
In this German study, doctors set out to compare the effects of gingko biloba and
pentoxifylline in treating sudden hearing loss, a condition that is often accompanied by
tinnitus. (According to the study, pentoxifylline is the standard of care for sudden hearing
loss in Germany. The drug, which helps improve blood flow and circulation, is delivered in a
carrier solution via infusion. In the U.S. and other European countries, oral cortisone is
often the first line of attack, in an attempt to eliminate any inflammation that may be
compressing the nerves in the ear.)
The researchers recruited 72 patients who had recently experienced sudden hearing loss,
and randomly assigned them to receive either 200 mg of ginkgo biloba or 300 mg of
pentoxifylline each day for 10 days, both via infusion. Forty-one percent of the ginkgo group
and 39 percent of the drug group reported tinnitus at baseline.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Gingko offers greater relief than prescription drug
--------------------------------------------------------------
After 10 days, both groups showed similar gains in hearing. (The gingko group's hearing
improved an average of 13.4 decibels, while the pentoxifylline group improved an average of
12.4 decibels.) But the gingko group reported greater gains against tinnitus. On average,
patients taking gingko reported larger decreases in the severity of their tinnitus symptoms.
And overall, patients gave gingko higher efficacy scores than pentoxifylline on a five-point
rating scale.
Herbalists have been pointing out gingko's positive effects on blood circulation for many
years. The herb effectively inhibits platelet aggregation, and is a powerful antioxidant. For
this reason, gingko biloba has long been recommended for treating and preventing
Alzheimer's disease, intermittent claudication, and macular degeneration. Now, this
study supports the idea that ginkgo's positive effects on circulation can also improve blood
flow to the ears.
3
Gingko biloba is widely available in health food stores and from supplement suppliers. There
are few reported side effects of this herb; occasionally, it can cause mild gastrointestinal
discomfort or headaches. And, since it does thin the blood, it should not be taken in
conjunction with prescription blood-thinning drugs like warfarin or heparin. There
are even concerns about taking gingko biloba along with natural blood-thinning products like
garlic or high-dose vitamin E. If you already take a daily drug or supplement for blood-
thinning benefits, discuss the situation with your doctor before you begin taking gingko.
But for many people, gingko biloba may be a safe, affordable, and easily accessible answer
for the nagging problem of tinnitus. Pass this information along to anyone you care about
who suffers with tinnitus - even if that person happens to be your boss!

Two things I would tell her to check,
1 ) Candidia, it does not matter if she has not had an antibiotic in along time,
only one time on an antibiotic starts the Candidia cycle. It could have been
when she was 5 yrs old that she took her 1st antibiotic and that process starts
from there. How about taking birth control pills in the past? That to will cause
candidia overgrowth.along with other broad spectrum drugs.
2 ) Chiropractic Care Is critical in 100 % optimal health and tinnitus can
certainly be a classic symptoms of a subluxation in the spine. tell her to go to
www.activator.com and find an activator trained chiropractor in her area.
Also it could and probably is both of the above. God Bless, Renae :-)

A diagnosis by a practitioner of Oriental medicine would sure be helpful in a situation like
this, since they have diagnoses that don't exist in Western medicine -- and treatments.
4
But gingko biloba is the herb SHAKLEE has that is used in Chinese medicine for tinnitus, so
that might help, although not knowing the exact Chinese medical diagnosis, it is hard to say
for sure, since it may not be tinnitus per se. Oriental medicine gets to the root cause
and treats that, not the symptoms, so the root cause is the issue here.
I have read that lecithin is involved with preventing hearing loss in the elderly.
Both products wouldn't hurt and might help, whether they address the
symptoms and/or the root cause. Hopefully both! Elizabeth MacIlhaney

Subject: Re: [Team 21] Vertigo
Many medications, both prescription and "over the counter" types can cause dizziness and
or vertigo. Cold preparations, painkillers, and treatments for high blood pressure, diabetes,
thyroid disease, depression and anxiety can give rise to feelings of lightheadedness and
dizziness. Alcohol use, even in small amounts for some people can produce these symptoms.
Low Blood Pressure: Some people will have a significant decline in their blood pressure
when standing, when they arise from the laying or sitting, to standing position. Normally, a
part of the body called the autonomic nervous system will respond and make sure the blood
vessels supply blood to the heart and brain in an appropriate fashion. Certain disorders
predispose to this condition, resulting in dizziness. These include diabetes, dehydration,
medications and anemia.
Cardiac Rhythm Disorders: If the rhythm of the heart is abnormal such that blood flow to
the brain is compromised, dizziness/lightheadedness may occur. Bradycardia (slow heart
rate) and tachycardias (rapid rate) can lead to symptoms.
There are many different things that can result in the feeling of vertigo. The list is often
divided into processes that affect the peripheral vestibular system, and those that involve
the central vestibular system.
Peripheral Vestibular Disorders
Benign Positional Vertigo:
This name is often used to describe a syndrome that occurs with changes in head movement,
and that is benign (implies no serious cause). It is the most common form of vertigo seen by
most specialists. The feeling of spinning and movement usually occurs when people are lying
down, or bend the head down. There is suddenly the feeling of spinning, often accompanied
by nausea, vomiting and sweating. Many people become fearful during these episodes. The
symptoms usually are brief, lasting less than a minute and often no more than 30 seconds.
This syndrome may occur after trauma to the head, or after a viral labyrinthitis. It may
result from the presence of small pieces of calcium crystals that may become dislodged and
deposit where they should not be in the inner ear.
Labyrinthitis: May be associated with hearing loss, this term describes a syndrome that
may be inflammatory in origin. Some believe that syndromes such as this may result from a
viral disorder in the inner ear. Seasonal outbreaks have developed in association with
5
measles and mumps. Herpes Zoster (shingles) can cause this syndrome. Some patients may
also have facial weakness, indicating involvement of the nerve to the face, which is in close
proximity to the vestibular nerve.
Menieres Disease: This is a disorder that combines severe vertigo, nausea and vomiting,
tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and hearing loss. Often there is sense of fullness that
increases in the ears, followed by the attack, which may last for hours. Some people are so
affected that they cannot stand up. Often, as time progresses, hearing loss becomes
significant. The episodes may continue for years. The syndrome is thought to be the result
of an increase in the fluid in the inner ear, known as the endolymphatic fluid.
Drug Toxicity: A number of drugs can be toxic (poisonous) to the structures in the inner
ear, and result in dysfunction leading to vertigo. The group of antibiotics known as the
"aminoglycosides" (streptomycin, gentomycin) can cause both vertigo and hearing loss. In
addition, some of the drugs used to treat high blood pressure, seizures and
depression/anxiety can lead to vertigo. Aspirin use can also produce tinnitus and vertigo.
Central Causes of Vertigo
The central vestibular system includes the vestibular nerve, which transmits information
from the inner ear, and the brain, which receives this information and processes it.
Cerebrovascular Disease (Stroke): Diseases that cause lack of blood flow to the arteries
that supply the back part of the brain (the brainstem) and cerebellum are the more
commonly involved blood vessels that may lead to vertigo. If vertigo occurs secondary to
stroke, it is almost always not an isolated finding. Symptoms that accompany vertigo often
include double vision (seeing more than one object), slurred speech, weakness,
tingling/numbness, imbalance or clumsiness. This diagnosis should be strongly considered in
anyone with risk factors for stroke.
Brain Tumors: Tumors that occur in the brainstem or in the cerebellum or adjacent to it,
can cause vertigo as a primary symptom. Some of these tumors are accompanied by early
hearing loss. Nausea, vomiting, double vision, headache and imbalance may also occur. A
tumor that involves the vestibular nerve, that is benign (not cancerous) is known as an
acoustic neuroma. It is located in the space or angle between the cerebellum and brainstem.
Numerous vitamins and minerals have helped people suffering with tinnitus, dizziness and
vertigo. Omega 3 Fatty Acids are essential to brain health as these fats help nerve cells
transmit information. Calcium - magnesium is important in maintaining regular nerve
impulses. B vitamins are necessary for normal brain and central nervous system functions.
Zinc promotes a healthy immune system. Vitamins C and E have antioxidant power to fight
free radicals that can damage the inner ear and brain. Each of these vitamins and minerals
helps in different ways, but all help to maximize proper function of the hearing and balance
systems.
Supplements suggested:
Vitamin B Complex - B vitamins are necessary for normal brain and central nervous system
function.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids are essential to brain health
Calcium - magnesium is important in maintaining regular nerve impulses.
6
Vitamin C: An antioxidant that also improves circulation.
Vitamin E: Improves circulation.
Lecithin: Helps to prevent hardening of the arteries and improve brain function.
Coenzyme Q10: Improves circulation to the brain.
Ginkgo biloba: Ginkgo improves circulation and improves brain function by increasing the
supply of oxygen to the brain.
Ginger relieves dizziness and nausea.
Keeping a low sodium diet, avoiding alcohol, nicotine & caffeine all affect blood pressure and
may increase your symptoms.
Limit your total sodium intake to less than 2,000 mg. per day. Too much sodium can disrupt
the workings of the inner ear.
If you begin to experience dizziness soon after taking new medication, assume that the
problem is drug related, and contact your prescribing physician.
Vertigo may be a sign of an underlying problem that requires treatment. Consult your health
care provider. Sharon O'Donnell _www.SHAKLEE.net/Truhealth5_

Subject: re: Meneires disease
Meneires Disease
Ringing in the ears, variable loss of hearing, loss of balance, dizziness, nausea and vomiting
are symptoms of the inner ear disturbance known as Meniere's disease. The condition may
affect one or both ears. The exact cause or causes are unknown, but many experts believe
it results from a metabolic problem caused by a disturbed carbohydrate metabolism like
that associated with hypoglycemia. Impaired blood flow to the brain from clogged arteries
and poor circulation may contribute to this disorder. In the semicircular canals of the
inner ear, increased fluid retention produces pressure, which may disturb the balance and
hearing, resulting in bouts of dizziness, nausea, and even vomiting. Fluid retention during
the premenstrual period in women, allergies, and spasms of the blood vessels that supply the
inner ear may be related to Meniere's disease. Drug use, smoking, trauma, and
temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ) may also be involved.
Do not consume any fats, fried foods, salt, sugar (in any form), alcohol, or anything
containing caffeine. Check for food allergies. Some doctors recommend a high-protein, low
refined carbohydrate diet because they have found that people with this disorder have high
blood insulin levels. (Think GRC) High insulin levels impair circulation. Other factors, such as
obesity, alcohol use, smoking, and high blood cholesterol may contribute to this syndrome as
well. (GRC, SHAKLEE Glucose Regulation Complex might be helpful, I personally have not
tried
it yet because I had results before it was introduced, however, anyone with high blood
insulin levels might consider GRC as part of their regimen.)

When I experienced hearing loss, ringing in the ears and dizziness, I went to see an ENT.
He told me to eliminate salt from my diet and prescribed a medication, which I refused to
take after learning of its side effects. I lived with Meniere's Disease for about 1 1/2 years
before I sought holistic treatment. I actually called Carol Dalton for holistic advise on
Breast Cancer and happened to mention I had trouble with Meniere's Disease. She
suggested I add Mental Acuity Plus and Stomach Soothing Complex to the regimen she
prescribed. Most of the above nutrients helped the health ailments that were possibly
contributing factors to the Meniere's Disease.....all improved or eliminated.
I believe, for me, the nutrients that made the biggest difference in the treatment of
Meniere's ( in descending order) are; Mental Acuity Plus and Stomach Soothing Complex,
Alfalfa, and CoQheart. I had been taking most all of the supplements SHAKLEE makes at
label recommended dosages, except for Gingko and Peppermint Ginger. I increased all the
8
nutrients and added the Mental Acuity Plus and peppermint ginger. Within 2 weeks the
ringing
was hardly noticeable and I started to regain my hearing. I could not believe the
difference with the increase/addition of nutrients.
I was such a skeptic, I did not even think I could be helped with the severe hearing loss and
ringing in the ears. I could not make out a conversation in a crowded room. I could not use
my right ear when answering the phone with my right hand! All very annoying symptoms. So
I say, to those skeptics, TRY IT, what have you got to lose. You just might be pleasantly
surprised, as I was. Do include the diet elimination, that is important!
Allergies to some foods will cause me to have symptoms...I am now aware of the foods that
cause problems and have eliminated them from my diet. Eliminating Chinese food and salt
was tough, but worth it. Even one alcohol or caffeinated drink will increase the ringing.
This is a terrible disease to live with. I thank God for answered prayers!
P.S. Since I started taking Stress Relief Complex and Gentle Sleep Complex I have not had
the TMJ problems. I sleep calmly through the night and I don't grind my teeth like I used
to. I tried mouth guards, and acupuncture, to no avail. Pain Relief Complex and Pain Relief
Cream on the jaw works great too!

Subject: Regarding Ginkgo - The Toledo Blade TheMetroNet Sunday
Herbal remedies have long been touted as overlooked alternatives to the powders and pills
dispensed by pharmaceutical giants. Since they're free from the grasp of the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration, they are both readily available and subject to some outlandish
claims as to their medicinal value.
Extract of ginkgo biloba fell into this category until fairly recently, when medical studies
showed an extract of ginkgo leaves improved mental acuity in people with Alzheimer's
disease.
The ginkgo is said to be the oldest surviving tree species, dating back to the age of
dinosaurs. It is native to China but can be seen on the lawn of the Lucas County courthouse.
For centuries, ginkgo has been taken for its purported effect on mental sharpness and as an
expectorant. The first recorded use of ginkgo appeared in 2,800 B.C. in a Chinese medical
text.
The ginkgo has cropped up also in recent medical literature. The results of a formal review
of medical articles, which was published in November 1998, showed that carefully controlled
studies indicated that daily doses of ginkgo arrested or reversed cognition problems among
people with dementia caused by Alzheimer's.
Does ginkgo work? We put the question to Dr. John McGreevey, who practices and teaches
geriatric medicine at the Medical College of Ohio and its hospital.
9
Dr. McGreevey said ginkgo has been shown to be beneficial in a few situations, but he
emphasized that its effects have not been well studied.
Reports suggest that people with Alzheimer's and those who have suffered strokes, with its
attendant cognition problems, have been helped modestly by ingestion of ginkgo extract, Dr.
McGreevey said.
Whether cognition can be improved among people not diagnosed with dementia has not been
studied, he noted.
Ginkgo extract has also been shown to have some effect on tinnitus, a condition
characterized by ringing in the ears caused by structural damage to the hearing mechanism,
he said.
How does ginkgo work? Dr. McGreevey said the active agents in ginkgo extract, commonly
called ginkgosides, retard the clotting action of platelets. Ginkgosides are also reported to
act as circulatory stimulants, he said. In addition, its anti-oxidant properties may be
beneficial.
The combination of these factors increases the rate at which blood travels through the
brain. This, in turn, means more oxygen is delivered to the gray matter, and cognition is
improved accordingly.
This view is held by Christine Haughton, who prepared a series of monographs for the
Health Centre, a Web site that provides access to medical information generated in the
United Kingdom.
The site itself is maintained by David Rayne, a rural general practitioner in northern
Yorkshire, England.
"Elderly patients with chronic cerebral insufficiency who took part in a clinical trial
demonstrated a significant regression of major symptoms including vertigo, tinnitus,
headache, short-term memory, vigilance, and mood changes," Haughton states on the site.
The compound also improves glucose utilization in the brain, improves transmission of nerve
impulses, and increases alertness by increasing the brain's alpha-wave rhythms and
decreasing its theta-wave rhythms, she states.

TINNITUS INFO from Janet Daley
11
Tinnitus - is a constant ringing, buzzing, hissing or other sound in the ears with no
obvious cause. It can sometimes be caused by something else such as an infection,
obstruction of the ear canal, head trauma, noise-induced hearing loss or Meniere's
disease. It could be something as simple as a blockage
of the outer ear canal with ear wax. It almost always is associated with hearing loss.
(Ken had tinnitus years ago and although he does not have it now, he does have some loss of
hearing).
It's a good idea to have a hearing test because most people who develop hearing loss
(especially noise related) are unaware that anything is wrong until they develop tinnitus
when actually the damage has started long before that.
Some nutrients that are recommended are:
I always start with the protein of course, which is necessary for building healthy new cells
and antibodies
--Vita Lea - to provide a balance of nutrients to the cells
--OMEGAGUARD & GLA - provides essential fatty acids to help reduce tendency to
produce excessive amounts of ear wax
--CAROTOMAX - to boost immunity, increase resistance to infection and
strengthen mucous membranes
--Vita C - Also necessary for immune function & preventing ear infections
-- B-Complex - necessary for healing and reducing ear pressure
--OsteoMatrix- deficiency has sometimes been linked to ear disorders
(especially maganese which is part of the complex)
--Vita E - acts as a powerful antioxidant & increases circulation
-- Zinc - quickens immune response, aids in reducing infection and proper
functioning of senses (smell, taste, hearing) ...And... last but not least...
--OPTIFLORA - because of the powerful pro & prebiotic properties and the
normalizing of the intestinal flora which enables proper utilization of all nutrients

NutraSweet (TM) --- The Bitter Truth
It looks like sugar, tastes like sugar (so I'm told), even feels like sugar. But it has virtually
no calories, doesn't rot your teeth, and, unlike saccharin, has not been proven to cause
cancer. The advertisements say it's as "natural" as a glass of milk and a banana. I always say
if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
12
NutraSweet, the trade name for the sweetener aspartame, was developed by the G.D.Searle
pharmaceutical company and is now consumed by more than 100 million persons in the United
States several times daily. Searle's $100 million per year advertising campaign, the largest
ever for a good ingredient, is
clearly paying for itself and a whole lot more. During 1986, aspartame grossed more than
$750 million for the pharmaceutical company.
Food manufacturers have switched from sugar to aspartame in unprecedented numbers.
This food additive, marketed as a food, is now found in over 1200 products, including
everything from baked goods and breakfast cereals, to children's vitamins, laxatives and
drugs. In fact, it's hard to find a packaged product that doesn't contain aspartame. But
nowhere is the artificial sweetener more visible than in cans of diet soft drinks.
With the introduction of NutraSweet, consumers began drinking as much as six times more
diet drinks. In 1985, 800 million pounds of aspartame soft drinks were consumed. That
translates into 5.8 pounds per person, a figure which has probably doubled by now. Sales of
diet sodas grew five times faster in 1988
than those of regular sodas, with two million American households.
Why are so many people drinking so many aspartame-sweetened drinks? Partly because tap
water is unhealthy, but mainly because sugars are addictive and because aspartame creates
an increased thirst.
NutraSweet is a synthetic chemical additive. It is not a "natural" product derived from
banana plants or cows as implied by TV commercials. Rather, it is a man-made substance
composed of three ingredients which are natural, but are never found together in nature in
such a combination.
It is composed of two amino acids, phenylalanine and aspartic acid, as well as methyl alcohol,
also known as methanol.
NutraSweet(TM) Politics
During the early 1970s, Searle submitted the results of more than 100 tests which
persuaded the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) that aspartame was safe. However,
during the FDA's approval deliberations, several scientists, more notably Dr. Richard
Wurtman, a professor of neuroendocrinology at MIT, raised
serious questions about the sweetener's safety. As a result, the agency created a public
board of inquiry to audit the Searle tests. The board, headed by Walle Nauta, a professor
of psychology and brain science at MIT, recommended against approving NutraSweet.
In recommending against approval, the board said Searle's studies were scientifically
deficient and did not demonstrate reasonable safety.
NutraSweet(TM) In the Body
After entering the body, the components of aspartame are rapidly released into the blood
stream. Methanol, a deadly metabolic poison, is apparently the first to be separated.
Rarely found in its free form, methyl alcohol is usually derived or produced from other
substances. It can cause serious tissue damage, including
13
blindness, and even death. One of the reasons methanol is so toxic is because the body
lacks the necessary enzymes to detoxify it. Its rate of elimination is five times slower than
a similar amount of ethyl alcohol, as found in whisky, beer and wine. For aspartame to be
eliminated at all, the body must first convert
it to formaldehyde, then to formic acid and ultimately to carbon dioxide.
One 12 ounce can of most aspartame-sweetened soft drinks contains about 10 mg. of
methanol. The amount of methanol ingested by heavy consumers of NutraSweet could easily
exceed 100 mg. daily, 13 times the limit recommended by the EPA.
The NutraSweet ingredient, phenylalanine, is known to be toxic to the brain in large doses.
The amino acid can cause mental retardation and seizures in people with phenylketonuria
(PKU), a genetic disorder. But their numbers are relatively small (about 1 in 15,000) and
most are careful to avoid phenylal. The problem, according to Dr. Wurtman, is the rest of
us.
An estimated two percent of the US population, or about 4.5 million people, have one of the
two genes necessary for PKU. They do not develop the disease, but may be sensitive to
phenylal. Unfortunately, there is no test for the one gene condition.
Dr. Wurtman says that a typical adult who drinks about four or five aspartame-sweetened
soft drinks a day might introduce enough phenylal into the brain to affect the synthesis of
brain neurotransmitters, possibly leading to mood swings, irritability, anxiety, depression,
insomnia, headaches, high blood pressure,
increased appetite and even seizures.
The relative concentration of phenytal and aspartic acid, the two amino acids in aspartame,
is ten times higher than found in foods. Aspartame promotion literature implies that the
body treats these two amino acids no differently than if they were derived from fruits,
vegetables, milk or meat.
Many researchers strongly disagree with the promotional claims. Physician and aspartame
researcher, Dr. H. J. Roberts, MD, says, "There are profound differences in both the rate
of digestion and the degree of digestion and the degree of absorption depending on
whether these amino acids are provided by food or by aspartame." Consumed in their natural
state, in foods, these amino acids are digested and released into the bloodstream slowly, he
says, buffered and balanced by other amino acids.
When aspartame is consumed, however, especially in beverages, the body is suddenly
deluged with large amounts of phenylal and aspartic acid, which can then cross into the
brain unopposed and cause significant disturbances of the brain neurotransmitters and
endocrine functions.
NutraSweet (TM) May Be Hazardous To Your Health
Dr. Roberts has recently published his findings of more than 500 cases of aspartame-
induced illnesses in "Aspartame (NutraSweet) Is It Safe?"
In his preface, he states "aspartame is potentially dangerous and may produce a wide
variety of physical and mental symptoms, most of which now go unrecognized or are
14
misinterpreted as serious illnesses, " These misdiagnosed cases are often referred to
doctor after doctor at great expense to the
patients and health care system. These patients are then treated with a host of other
drugs, often adding additional side-effects, or banished to psychiatry while the simple
cause, NutraSweet, goes untreated.
An exceptional physician, Dr. Roberts has published more than 2000 articles and letters in
leading medical journals and written five books, including the highly respected medical text,
"Difficult Diagnosis: A Guide to the Interpretation of Severe Illness."
In 1984, soon after the introduction of aspartame, Dr. Roberts noticed clusters of
symptoms that even he, the doctor who wrote the book on difficult diagnosis, could not
diagnose or effectively treat.
NutraSweet Alternative
If you must use a sweetener, a truly natural and healthful alternative to aspartame is the
juice from the Brazilian shrub, Stevia, which is 30 to 40 times sweeter than sucrose, has
been used as a sweetener in South America for several hundred years and in Japan for 20
years. Two drops of the liquid extract equals one teaspoon of table sugar and is less than
one calorie. One teaspoon finely ground Stevia powder is equivalent to one cup of sugar.

Mental Plus Complex contains the herb Ginko for a clear mind, healthy heart and improved
circulation. The brain is 2% of our body’s weight but requires 20% of the blood supply. In
numerous studies, ginkgo increased blood flow in younger patients by 20% and older patients
by 70%. Mental Acuity Plus also contains four herbs that have anti-oxidant properties to
protect brain cells and improve circulation. Three complementary B vitamins that protect
the body from homocysteine that produce a higher risk of heart disease than smoking, high
cholesterol or high blood pressure. Improves memory, attention span, perception, language
ability, dementia and early Alzheimer’s. Used as an antidepressant and used to treat vertigo
and tinnitus.
Subj: Metamucil Expose - Have you ever read the label of your fiber?
From: Cmdinkel
Have you ever read the label of your fiber?
DO YOU TAKE "100% NATURAL METAMUCIL" ? IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO DOES,
BE A CARING PERSON AND PASS THIS ON....
Have you ever read the label of your fiber supplement? 100% Natural Source Pysillium
Fiber, sugar free. Sounds good, doesn't it? READ THE LABEL.
This is not just a fiber product. And beware, because not everything is printed on the label,
either. These products are full of aspartame, D&C yellow #10, FD&C yellow #6, orange
flavor,.... The thing that shocked me most was the high levels of aspartame. One brand did
not put aspartame on the label, but they DID put "22mg of phenylalanine per teaspoon" on
the label. To the average consumer, this is not such a bad thing. To the person who knows
about amino acids, this seems okay, too, because phenylalanine is just another amino
acid.....OR IS IT? When taken out of balance, altered and heated, phenylalanine will mess
with your brain chemistry like you never thought possible. It is the precursor to aspartame,
a synthetic sweetener. Added to almost everything that says "sugar-free",
aspartame/phenylalanine will cause a metabolic condition called PKU, which results in an
inability to break down phenylalanine. Patients must discontinue using aspartame or
ISOLATED amino acid phenylalanine to prevent serious mental retardation.
Other side effects of aspartame: numbness in legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches,
fibromyalgia, spasms, shooting pains, tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks,
slurred speech, blurred vision, memory loss, lupus, multiple sclerosis,....
NOTE: On the label for Metamucil, it also warned the consumer to store the product below
86F. Wonder why? Because when the temperature of aspartame exceeds 86 degrees F, the
wood alcohol in it converts to FORMALDEHYDE, a deadly poison classed with cyanide and
arsenic that will slowly accumulate in the brain and cause neurological disorders. WHAT
TEMPERATURE IS YOURBODY AT?

CHECK YOUR VITAMINS (Flintstones,...),JAMS, CANDIES, POP, MEDICATIONS, COUGH
SYRUP,.... Isn't it frightening that manufacturers are allowed to alter nature, call it natural
source, and mislead the consumer into thinking it is safe? Aren't you glad there is a
company out there like SHAKLEE who DOES NOT use any altered, heated, isolated
compounds/amino acids/nutrients,.... they keep the balance of nature, using the best of
science, and produce only products that will benefit, NOT HARM, our 60 trillion cells.
