Describe your personality (introvert, extrovert, funny, serious, goal-oriented, curious, etc.).

I am an outwardly sociable person (I make friends easily and am easy to get along with), but I

really value my time alone. Overall I would say I’m more of an introvert…but only my close

friends probably see this side. I am an ambitious, energetic person who rarely sits down to

relax; I always have too many projects going on! Even in my ‘down time’ I am much more

likely to do something active like go for a hike or play a game, instead of watching TV or

reading a book.

I am a loyal husband and friend, devoted to my wife and daughter, and honest and genuine in

my interactions.

I am very scientifically-minded and logical in everyday life; but I also have a poetic side that is

expressed in my lyrics and music. My greatest loves are my family, playing and writing music,

and the outdoors.

What are your special interests and talents?

My greatest talent, and interest, lies in music. I have played and taught multiple instruments

professionally, and also love to sing. I’m an accomplished composer and songwriter, having

written extensively in classical, popular, and ‘world music’ idioms. The most thrilling part of

my life is when a new song comes together. In the last few years I’ve had a CD released in

Japan, and played around the region with various bands, but always kept my day job! I also

enjoy the technical aspects of music production, such as wiring sound systems and working in

the studio. My work as a sound engineer (mixing live shows for bands) is very fulfilling for me,

and I always get a lot of compliments. I am also interested in progressive politics, alternative

energy technologies, cooking, astronomy, and physics.

How would you describe your enjoyment of and skills in the following areas:

math: I have always enjoyed math and been good at it. I took calculus in high school but

tested out in college since I was a music major…and I’ve missed it ever since!

mechanical: I enjoy working with my hands, and with tools, but I wouldn’t say I’m especially

talented in this. I do like to take things apart to see how they work, and I’m good at fixing

things and troubleshooting mechanical problems. I also enjoy carpentry and rudimentary

furniture building!

athletic: I played a lot of soccer and tennis in my youth but I’ve never been too interested in

(or good at) competitive sports. However, I frequently ride my bike, love to go on long hikes,

and I’m a competent downhill skier.

musical, artistic, creative: I have already described my musical life above. I am not a good

visual artist; I’m very tuned in to my ears! I do consider myself a creative thinker and a

problem solver.

language (what languages besides English do you speak?): Only English and little Spanish.

What are your goals and ambitions in life?

For many years, my main ambition was to be widely recognized for making unique, original

music. But, as I’ve aged, my perspective has widened. Now, I have a beautiful daughter, and a

son on the way, and I’m committed to creating a good environment for them to grow up in. I

want to do work that uplifts my community and sets the groundwork for a sustainable culture.

Why do you want to be a sperm donor?

My Mom and Dad both came from families of 10 children. They always intended on having a

big family themselves, but my dad was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease when I was a toddler.

The treatment prevented him from fathering another child, and it was 10 years before we were

finally able to adopt my sister. I would like to think that I am helping couples overcome their

obstacles to have the family that they desire.

Did you choose to be an identity-release donor? __X__Yes ____No. Why did you make this choice?

My adopted sister has recently gotten in contact with her birthparents and it has been a

tremendously positive experience for all of them. I wouldn’t want to deny a person the

opportunity to know both their biological parents. And, it would be fascinating for me to meet a

child I didn’t know I had.

What message would you like us to pass on to the people who are getting your sperm?

I would like to wish you all the joy that I’ve had so far raising a child, and more sleep!
