Installation notes for the Fujitsu USB scanners from Datatron Technical Services
Inc.
1: Unpack the scanner and attach the top paper tray by inserting it into the slots on top
2: Plug the power connector and USB cable into the scanner; plug the power cord into the
wall outlet.
3: Plug the other end of the USB cable into the back of the computer
4: A “Found New Hardware Wizard” will automatically open. Even if you had another
Fujitsu Scanner installed, you will still need to reinstall the drivers for this one.
5: Put in the Fujitsu CD that came with the scanner, and with the found new hardware
wizard pick “search for driver in cd-rom”; click through all the defaults
*Optionally, if the scanner install is on your server, or you may want to now copy
the contents from the CD to a directory in EOB Express on your server, browse for them
there. The *.inf file at the root of the CD or directory is what you point to. Finish the
wizard.
6: Now open up My Computer, right click on your cd-rom drive, and pick EXPLORE
(Otherwise, it will try to launch a pdf file). Alternately, browse to your installs directory
on the Server, and find the Directory \ISIS-TWAIN Driver\.
7: You will need to run this setup program: \ISIS-TWAIN Driver\Twain Driver\STI for
USB\setup\install.exe
8: You can uncheck all the boxes for the installation except for TWAIN DRIVER.
9: Take all the defaults and when it is done, then reboot.
10: When the system boots back up, log into EOB Express as Supervisor. Click SYSTEM
SETUP and SCANNER SOURCE—SELECT SOURCE
11: Pick the new FUJITSU 41** scanner.
12: Now Click SYSTEM SETUP and Configure Scanner. Make sure TWAIN is selected
and then click LOAD DEFAULTS.
13: Go into your control panel (start—settings—control panel) and open the Scanners and
Cameras. Highlight the Fujitsu scanner, and then click properties. Go to Events and click
the box that says DISABLE EVENTS. This will keep the scanner from trying to launch
the Windows Imaging application when you put paper in the tray…a minor annoyance.
14: You may go ahead and test the scanner at this point; it should be ready to go. Do so
by clicking EOB EXPRESS—SCAN EOBs—and your twain driver window will launch.
*With these Fujitsu scanners, change the resolution on the Scan Screen from 300x300 to
200x200 (There is no noticeable visual difference, but the file sizes are smaller.)
*If you have a Fujitsu 4110, there is one setting to change. Click on the “Options” button,
and click the “Startup” Tab, then check the first box “quick start” setting; this will keep
the scanner from having to warm up after being idle).
15: Scan any piece of paper and when you close the Twain driver window, your scanned
image should pop up as usual and look good. The only thing you would need to change in
the future is when you want to select Duplex from the drop down menu (if you want it to
automatically scan both sides at once.)
