Program Assessment Summary/Recommendation
Meets all standards and X Not all standards and X Insufficient documentation
requirements requirements are met for program review
Approval X Approval Pending Approval Suspended
Standards/Requirements Not Met:
Unable to determine from materials submitted for review because the education syllabi were not
available.
Additional information needed/action to be taken:
Please resubmit the standards matrix to include narrative that explains how the standards related to
pedagogy are met through the English and education coursework.
Please provide syllabi for education courses used on the matrix to fulfill standards.
Please respond to Section 9 in the Guidelines for Preparation for Specialty-Area Program
Review to explain how candidates acquire instructional methods for teaching English.
Throughout the matrix the statement is made that English faculty model effective
pedagogy. How does the institution insure that this occurs?
Comments:
Madonna appears to have strong content area coursework but the reviewers were concerned
about not having an opportunity to review any of the coursework related to the candidate’s preparation
to teach English. Submitted syllabi did not sufficiently include objectives related to pedagogy
specifically linked to English content matrices,
