                           INFORMATION FOR VISITORS


The Centre's reception office is situated in the Mansion. Opening times are 7.30am-
10.00pm. Messages taken for delegates are displayed on the message board at
reception. If you need any help or assistance please contact the reception.


Please note that on Monday morning's at approximately 9am, the fire alarms will be
tested. There is no need to evacuate the building, unless a member of staff indicates
such. Fire evacuation procedures are detailed in bedroom and information packs.


First Aid Kits are located in Reception, Gym & Tonic, Restaurant & The Residents
Bar. There are lists of qualified First Aiders displayed around the building.


Bedrooms are not normally available until 12.00 noon on the day of arrival and
should be vacated by 9.30am on the day of departure. Each residential delegate will
be requested to fill out a registration key card on arrival. This should be carried with
them at all times, as they may be required to produce it in the Bars, Restaurant or
Health & Fitness Centre. Keys should be collected from reception and returned on
the morning of departure. Please note that a charge is made for any unreturned
or lost key.

If course organisers would prefer their own registration point, given prior notification,
a suitable area can be designated.


There is a cloak room situated on the lower ground floor of the mansion and is
available to store luggage prior to check in and following check out.

Please note, the cloakroom is not locked, therefore personal belongings are left at
own risk.


The majority of the en-suite accommodation is located a short distance from the
Mansion in either the Old Stables Courtyard or Woodland Lodge. All rooms have full
en-suite facilities, colour TV, including Sky News, radio, direct dial telephone, tea and
coffee making facilities, trouser press and hairdryer. There are also irons available at
your request. There are a limited number of non-smoking rooms available,
please indicate on rooming list if these are required and by whom.

Standard accommodation is situated in the Halls of Residence; approximately 3
minutes walk from the Mansion. Most rooms have colour television, tea and coffee
making facilities and their own wash hand basin. Bath/shower/toilet facilities are
available on each floor (there are 12 or 13 rooms to each floor). Soap and towels are
provided in each bedroom. All rooms are serviced on a daily basis.
Visitors are advised to bring appropriate footwear and clothing in case of inclement
weather. Umbrellas are available from reception.

Please note NO PETS are allowed neither in rooms or on the grounds.

All delegates should be aware that the occupation of a given bedroom is only
allocated to the person who is booked into that particular room (and that abiding by
this venue regulation is a fire insurance requirement). Also, Stoke Rochford Hall
requests that all conference delegates should refrain from making excessive noise
between 24.00 and 08.00 hours in respect of their fellow residents.


Ample parking is available at the Halls of Residence or in the area at the top of the
main drive to the fore of the obelisk. The driveway leading to the Halls of Residence
MUST be kept clear at the request of the fire and medical services in case of


Under normal road and weather conditions Grantham Railway Station is a 20-minute
journey away. As all hired transport normally comes from Grantham it is essential
that you book your travel requirements at least ONE HOUR IN ADVANCE.


All meals are taken in the Portrait Restaurant, which is situated on the lower ground
floor of the Mansion. Normal meal times are as follows: -

Breakfast                  7.30-9.00am
Sunday Breakfast           7.30-10.00am
Lunch                      12.30-2.00pm
Dinner                     7.00-9.00pm

Please note that the finishing time relates to last orders.

Breakfast and lunch are taken on a self-serve basis. Evening dinner is a table d'hote
waitress served meal. Tables can be reserved in advance if required.

Morning coffee and afternoon tea are normally served in the Grand Hall (non-
smoking and the Oak Bar (smoking), timings being flexible to suit your course

The Residents' Bar is situated on the lower ground floor, opening times are
lunchtimes 12.00pm-2.00pm and from 5.30pm in the evening.

A bar account can be opened on presentation of a credit card.

The television room, pool table and snooker/billiard room can be found on the lower
ground floor of the Mansion.

Sky sports channels are also available for the viewing of major sporting events in the
Catacombs or the Residents Bar.

Newspapers are available from the reception office each morning, they are sold on a
first come first served basis. However any specific requests can be given to the
receptionist the previous day.


The Hall has a gift shop "Serendipity" located on the ground floor behind the
reception office. Opening hours are from 8.00am until 9.00pm. In addition to gifts
and souvenirs, the shop sells general toiletries and confectionery.


Three pay phones are located in the Mansion and on the ground floor of each of the
Halls of Residence. For incoming calls through our switchboard (Open from 7.30pm-
10.00pm) the telephone number is 01476 530337. There are house phones situated
on each floor of the halls of residence for internal dialling. Relevant numbers are

Creche facilities are available and should be booked two weeks in advance.


Cheques accompanied by a current bankers card, may be changed at our Finance
office until 7.00pm thereafter in the Residents Bar. There is a £1.00 handling charge
for this facility.

The Centre has a comprehensive Health & Fitness Centre. The Centre is open from
1.00pm -9.00pm Monday - Friday and 10.00pm - 6.00pm on Saturdays and
Sundays. The facilities include seasonal swimming pool, open April to December
(subject to change), male and female saunas and steam rooms, full size Jacuzzi,
sunshower, multi-gym, tennis courts, football pitch and a gymnasium with facilities for
playing badminton, basketball or table tennis.

A visitor to the Centre may use these facilities at the cost of £5.00 per day.

There is a discount to these rates if you are a NUT or PCS member (ID required).

Full details on booking the facilities and the charges can be obtained from our Health
& Fitness Centre Reception, which is situated opposite the football pitch near the
Halls of Residence.

We do hold a supply of tennis and badminton racquets, shuttlecocks, table tennis
bats and balls; these items may be hired on payment of a small deposit. Visitors are
advised to bring their own sportswear if they wish to use the facilities.


Whilst every effort is taken to safeguard the personal property of visitors to Stoke
Rochford Hall, the Board of Management regrets that it cannot accept responsibility
for loss or damage to personal belongings.
