"As a member of PTR Committee I have provided leadership in proposing and educating my

"I was appointed Director of the ePortfolio Project in September. Since then I have conducted a survey
of 600 students who were exposed to the Blackboard ePortfolio interface in ISOM120. Findings
indicated confusion about the value of an ePortfolio and ambiguity about the procedures required to
maintain their ePortfolio. Students also called attention to the poor usability of the Blackboard
platform.
Working with Laurie Levesque, we organized a series of experiments with students using Blackboard and
alternative web platforms such as Synthasite and Google Sites to complete ePortfolio web design tasks.
Based on the positive feedback with Google, I invited Google to demonstrate their free Apps for
Education offerings to the Deans and OTM, and later to a larger number of SBS faculty at the first SBS
Technology Committee meeting I chaired in December.
I received the go-ahead to implement Google Sites as a possible replacement for Blackboard. This will be
tested in 4 sections of ISOM120 in the Spring semester. Laurie and I have rebranded the ePortfolio into
CareerLINKS following the acronym: Leadership, Innovation, Networking, Knowledge & Service.
