Marketing Research Project
Now that you have learned about the 7 P’s of marketing, you are going to research different
companies and then determine which of the 7 P’s they are placing emphasis on in their marketing plan.
Step 1: Pick 6 different companies that you would like to research.
Step 2: For each of the 6 companies, pick a specific product that company markets really well.
Step 3: For each of the 6 products, go to the company’s website and determine how they market their product
using each of the 7 P’s of marketing. Write at least a sentence about each of the 7 P’s for all 6 products.
Example: Coca-Cola Bottling Company

2. Product –
3. Promotion –
4. Place –
5. Process –
6. Physical Environment –
7. People –
Step 4: Review this webpage: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/mostadmired/2009/full_list/
Are your companies on the list of the most admired companies in the world?
Step 5: Come up with a product or service that you would like to market.
Step 6: Now that you know how major big name companies market their products, design a poster board that
markets your product using the information that you have learned so far in this unit. Make sure that you use the
7 P’s of marketing in your poster board design. You will be graded using the Poster Rubric.
***Remember everything you learned in the Marketing Mix PowerPoint when you are creating
your design and coming up with your marketing plan. ***
Step 7: Let’s just say that you actually start this business and you sell all of your products. Come up with an
Income Statement that details the following: Sales (Amount of money you brought in), Cost of Goods Sold
(How much it cost you to make the products), Expenses (Any other money you had to pay out) and your Profit
(The amount of money you paid after the bills were paid).
Step 8: Make a presentation to the class about your product and tell us about the concepts behind your
marketing plan. Then present us with the example income statement to show us what you could make if you
made your product and sold all of the products that you made. You will be graded using the Presentation
Rubric.
