The Moon
By: Caleb D. Robinson
• I dedicate this book to my mom, Ann
Robinson.
The moon has
effects on the ocean
tide. It makes high tide
and low tide. There
are 8 different phases
of the moon.
The eight phases of
the moon are new moon,
waxing crescent, first
quarter, waxing gibbous,
full moon, waning
gibbous, third quarter, and
waning crescent. Now
you know the eight
different phases of the
moon.
The moon has
things called craters.
They are holes caused
by flying rocks. These
are called asteroids.
They hit the moon
with a lot of speed.
When the moon
blocks the sun from
the Earth, it is called
Solar Eclipse. Some
people travel thousand
of miles to experience
a Solar Eclipse. In the
picture to the left, the
moon is blocking the
sun’s light from the
Earth.
When the Earth blocks sunlight from the
moon, that is called a lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipses can
only happen at night because a lunar eclipse is when
the moon gets eclipsed. The moon can change colors
during a lunar eclipse.
