The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is pleased to announce the
following FREE training course:

                            Monday, March 29, 2010
                             9:00 am - 12:00 pm*

                                    NYSDOT Region 1 Office
                             Training & Conference Center – 2nd Floor
                                         328 State Street
                                     Schenectady, NY 12305

* Note: If the 9 am class fills up, we will schedule a 2nd class in the afternoon on the 29th.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES: This training session will provide supervisors with the basic
knowledge and skills needed to determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require a driver
or other safety-sensitive employee to undergo testing under as required by federal regulations; 49
CFR Parts 655.43 or 382.307. The training will cover the physical, behavioral, speech and
performance indicators associated with probable alcohol misuse and use of controlled substances.
Gary Bulinski, President of Traffic Safety Research, Inc., will be the course instructor. He is a
nationally certified drug recognition expert and has developed a comprehensive reasonable
suspicion training program for supervisors.

Advance registration is required to attend this course. Registrations will be accepted on a first-
come, first-served basis.      Register early as space is limited to 30 participants and previous
sections of this class have filled up within a few days of the announcement. RTAP eligible
systems may apply for reimbursement of travel expenses incurred to attend this training. To
register, complete the attached registration form (one form per applicant) indicating the applicant’s
name and organization, and fax or mail NO LATER THAN March 22nd, as indicated.

NO-SHOWS AND CLASS CANCELLATION: If you register for a course and cannot attend,
please contact Jennifer Murdza at NYSDOT to cancel at least 24 hours before the course. No-
shows may affect their eligibility to attend future training sessions. Classes are subject to
cancellation due to low enrollment and participants will be notified of class cancellation.

Directions From the East or South:
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 25. From exit, take I-890 West to Exit 5 (Broadway).
Keep right and take a right at foot of ramp onto Broadway. Turn left at the third light for the
parking garage.
Directions From the North:
Take Route 50 south to Route 5 in Scotia. Turn left at Route 5 and cross the Mohawk River into
Schenectady. Go through four lights; turn right at the fifth light (at the clock tower) onto
Broadway. Park on the right in the parking garage.

Directions From the West:
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 26. Take I-890 east to Exit 5 (Broadway). End of ramp
turn left at the first light on to Broadway, the second light is under the bridge. Go to the fifth light
and turn left for the parking garage.


LAZ Parking Garage @ 220 Broadway. NYSDOT building is on the corner of State St. and
Broadway and the parking garage is behind the NYSDOT building. You will see the parking
garage before the DOT building if you take Broadway from 890. It is $7/day to park in the
