I’m glad you like it. I am free to meet next Tuesday before 1pm, next Wednesday before 2pm and
next Friday before noon. Let me know if either works for you.
Will tells me you also help with the African American History Program.. We would absolutely love
that. Do you think they would be interested in creating a small skit or being part of a dramatic
fashion show in which they would research and create a short speech (4-5 sentences) about a
African American historical figure?

Yes, this sounds excellent. If you could email possible times in your schedule where we could
meet I would appreciate. I am excited about your suggestions.
Thanks!

Maria,
I can meet tomorrow after 3 but only for about 15 minutes. I have an appointment at 4:00 in
Cincinnati. The best time for me to meet is anytime after 3 or 10:15-11:20. Tuesday is our team
meeting day. My phone number is 513-382-2205 if it is better to call me. Let me know what
works for you. Again, thank you for your help.

Kynda, please call me Maria. You make me feel old LOL!
At this point, I’m grateful for any participation in this program as we did not get a lot of response
from others. I plan to be at Two Rivers tomorrow at 3 to see how thing are shaping up. We can
meet then or I’m available on Monday before 10:30 and after 2pm and on Tuesday before 11:30. I
also plan to be at Two Rivers Tuesday at 2pm. Please let me know if either of these times are
good for you.

Hello Ms. Carter,
I apologize for not responding as quickly as I had anticipated. My drama club is actually not
interested in being in the show…despite my pushing them. I do however have 3-4 lovely young
ladies who will have a part in the show where they will read poetry.
In the meantime, I would like to meet with you if possible. Is the schedule from your last email
valid, and if not is it possible for you to give me times you may have free next week? Thanks for
your help Ms. Carter.

It is definitely my pleasure to serve. Maybe we can meet another day to discuss this in detail but I
think April would be a great month to do a project, as one of our foci here at Children Inc is on
economic/financial literacy and social entrepreneurialism. This allows students to meet a social
need by starting a small business. For example, students this month, in order to meet the needs
at the Kenton County Animal Shelter are running a breakfast bar, where they are selling breakfast
items to teachers every Friday morning before school to raise money to buy pet beds for the
shelter. Other schools are selling Valentine’s Day grams to donate money to the American Heart
Association in honor of National Heart Awareness Month. I think it would be awesome for your
class to choose a need that they would like to help fulfill and create a good or product to sell for
that cause. What you could add that the other classes don’t have, is the ability to create a loan
system, thus teaching your students about interest, etc. I will brainstorm some other ideas
regarding this curriculum and email you again. I’m interested in your thoughts on this, if you think
it is feasible, etc.

This is awesome. Thanks for the email. I will be at Two Rivers today meeting with Will Hunter
until around 12:30. I could come by your classroom to discuss this or if this is not an option for
you, please email me a summary of the curriculum you will be teaching in March/April/May and I
can brainstorm some ideas.

Hello Ms. Carter,
My name is Kynda Few and I am a Practical Living teacher at TRMS. I met Mr. Shepard in a
graduate course I am taking at Xavier University. He suggested I contact you. I am in need of
hours to complete my Principal Internship course. If there is anything you have coming up that
may require volunteers please keep me in mind. I am interested in doing some kind of service
learning project if possible. I greatly appreciate your time and help.
