I hope that all of our students had a wonderful break during the school vacation and are returning refreshed and ready for a very
focussed and enjoyable Term 2.
I am extremely grateful to parents for your wonderful goodwill in supporting our two consecutive staff professional learning days
this week. These were crucial days for us as we embark on a significant review of our Student Behaviour Management Policy and
Dominic College staff were very fortunate to have Mr Greg Flood, the Director of Education Services at Boystown Engadine lead
these days with us. Boystown is a Salesian school in Sydney that operates a range of programs for students with very challenging
behaviours. Greg is held in high regard as an outstanding educator with extensive experience in the Behaviour Management of
children & young people.

The whole of the College staff are united around and committed to our review. It will take us at least 6 months to have our

consulted in this review and your views will be welcomed and valued.

Football/Netball Round Robin
Planning has been on-going during Term 1and will become very specific as the building will commence in the near future. Further This Friday is the annual 5/6 Football/Netball round robin for 2009. Almost all of our 5/6 students will be participating in this day and
details and arrangements will be forwarded to parents/carers when needed. we wish them all the best of luck. Remember if you are participating in this day to wear full sport uniform on Friday. GOOD LUCK!!!
College Uniform – Term 2
I remind everyone of our uniform requirements for this term. As indicated in the diary the College Tie is to be worn by boys this
term. It is not a requirement to wear the College Hat but students may still like to have it on during outside times. All other
aspects remain the same. The wearing of the College uniform correctly is a positive, visual indicator of the pride in being a member
of the Dominic College community. For Primary aged students, parents are still very important in reinforcing these requirements.
We appreciate the support of parents/carers with regard to the correct wearing of our uniform.
I need to remind parents/carers of our commitments at the beginning of the day. As stated, under General Information in the diary,
our Duty of Care commences at 8.20am every morning. Prior to this time teachers are very busy preparing for their
‘teaching day’. This may take the form of organizing materials and equipment within their room or photocopying work away from
their room. Due to the inconsistent nature of this preparation and the need to be in different parts of our campus during this time Quote of the Week
it does not allow us to commence our ‘duty of care’ until the designated time of 8.20am which is half an hour before instructional There is a great man,
time commences. With the cold weather well and truly upon us I strongly recommend that students do not arrive before Who makes every man feel small.
we ‘open the doors’ at 8.20am. If, however, they do come before this time you need to realize that they MUST sit down outside But the real great man is the man
their room or the Multipurpose Centre for year 5 and 6 students. Who makes every man feel great.
