Dear Parents and Students:
The Fantastic Staff, PTA, and I welcome you to an excellent school. Because we are continuing our school goal
to improve reading comprehension and writing skills, the 2001-2002 school year will be another terrific year.
We at Fantastic are committed to preparing our children for the future in the 21st century. Our district vision of
“…developing lifelong learners who value themselves and the diversity of all people, apply decision-making
skills leading to responsible actions, and use creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving in meeting the
challenges of a changing society” is of utmost importance to us.
Through a rigorous and relevant curriculum, we believe that all students can, and will learn to the best of their
potential. As a school, we have significantly increased our SAT9 scores and API score, and will continue to
focus on increasing reading and writing skills in 2001-2002. To help us in this area, I ask you to continue to
read to your child each day and to encourage your child to read each night for at least 15 minutes. Parents, you
are your child’s first teacher. You make us look good.
In order to be a California Distinguished School, I encourage you, parents to find the time to get involved in
your children’s education. Please join and support our PTA, School Site Council (SSC), English Language
Learner Advisory Committee (ELLAC), and other parent groups. All parents are welcome at all meetings and
are highly encouraged to attend. For your convenience, SSC and ELLAC meetings are listed in the school
handbook. However, our monthly State of the School newsletter, will update you on meeting times on other
events, such as parent workshops as well. Also, we appreciate parent volunteers. Please consider helping the
teacher, or helping us in the office. Be informed that for safety reasons, all regular volunteers on campus are
now required by district policy to be fingerprinted.
In the handbook, you will find important information about the school. For quick reference alphabetically, we
have included our school and district procedures, policies and rules. Please take the time to review the
handbook with your child, sign and return the response slip. (One response slip per child.)
