It is a recurring theme in this book. In the
beginning of the book survival occurs when
Phillip has a war day. He doesn't realize it but
the island that he is on could get blown to bits
any minute. Then he sees all the boats tide
up. Wall that is happening he realizes that
they were a war and the enemy could shoot a
torpedo up to where they were and kill them
all. Also there island has no navy, Army.
Survival
In the middle of the book survival shows up
when the Hato blows to pieces. Then after that
when they are floating aimlessly on a raft for
days. Then one of those days Phillip went
blind. Soon latter they find an island with no
people and no freshwater. On the island they
made a signal fire and a big word in the sand
saying help to increase there chances of being
rescued. They also have a rain of freshwater
which boosts there water supply.
Survival
In the end of the book survival shows up when a
hurricane his there little cay. Timothy dies and all of
there hard progress including the water catchers were
all washed a way. After Timothy dies Phillip has to
survive on his own. He also has to rebuild the signal
fire. Then one day whale he is working on rebuilding
camp he hears a plane. He try to signal it but it goes a
way then the next day he hears explosions, he then
hears a plane he signals it and gets rescued at last.
Phillip prejudice/ rudeness
Phillip is rude to his mom by not staying in his
yard he went to the shore and almost gave his
mom a heart a attack. He is also rude to
Timothy When he first sees him on the raft.
Phillip is also prejudice. He is prejudice Timothy
a lot. Timothy doesn't really mind it that much.
One time Phillip says they are different they
eat raw fish.
Epilogue
Phillip remembers the Cay by the hurricane and hard
work that he endured there. The Cay has changed by
it getting smaller by having hurricanes hit it over and
over again. All the ruminant that he was there is all
gone. Phillip feels that he doesn't know his way
around the island any more and he feels that is not
suppose to be there. His experiences changed his life
by when he is faced with a problem it will not kill him it
will just make him stronger literally.
